Description

This role is for a Mainframe Software Engineer supporting the FCSD/Service Quality team, with primary responsibility for the Recall and Software FSA applications. The engineer will handle both production/application support and new development, while helping modernize legacy mainframe applications as they migrate toward Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

 

Job Responsibilities

Serve as the primary Mainframe Developer supporting Recall and Software FSA applications.
Provide production, application, and on-call support, quickly troubleshooting and resolving incidents.
Design, develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL and JCL applications.
Support both real-time and batch processing environments.
Develop mandatory features supporting Software FSA and compliance requirements.
Manage product deliverables and actively contribute to the application backlog.
Review, troubleshoot, and help prioritize defects and production issues based on business impact.
Perform application maintenance, system support, and security/audit-related activities.
Develop and support system-to-system integrations using z/OS Connect, SFTP, SOAP, REST APIs, and other data-exchange methods.
Perform unit and integration testing.
Collaborate with Product Owners, Product Managers, engineers, vendors, and business stakeholders.
Support the modernization and migration of mainframe applications toward Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Work independently to identify and resolve unexpected technical issues.
 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent — REQUIRED.
7+ years of Mainframe development experience in design, analysis, coding, and application support.
Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, IMS, JCL, CA7, and DB2.
Experience with COBOL Stored Procedures.
Experience with both real-time and batch processing.
2+ years of experience implementing or supporting z/OS Connect, SFTP, SOAP, and REST APIs.
Experience designing, developing, and maintaining Mainframe COBOL/JCL applications.
Experience with source-code management tools such as Endeavor and GitHub.
Strong production support and incident/defect troubleshooting experience.
Experience with application support, security reviews, audits, and maintenance.
Strong unit and integration testing experience.
Excellent written/verbal communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve complex problems.
Ability to multitask and prioritize work based on business requirements and urgency.
Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery experience is preferred/plus.
