Senior Mainframe Database Administrator

Requirements

• 15 or more years of experience in database administration with a strong focus on DB2 for z/OS and mainframe systems.

• Proficiency in administering, configuring, and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database environments.

• Experience with IBM z/OS mainframe environments including JCL, ISPF, COBOL, RACF, and CICS

• Experience in using CA GEN model management and administering ASG Scheduler utilities

• Experience with database developer tools including SSMS, SSIS, SSRS, and Microsoft Azure cloud hosting

• Experience in executing technical disaster recovery plans and infrastructure verification testing

• Excellent communication skills to effectively mentor junior technical staff and present database designs to stakeholders

Job Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support scalable database structures and schemas across multiple platforms and computing environments

• Perform daily database administration, catalog maintenance, and sub-system recoveries specifically for DB2 on z/OS

• Conduct advanced database performance monitoring and query tuning to ensure optimal transaction processing speeds

• Execute rigorous SQL code reviews to validate that database modifications adhere to strict compliance guidelines

• Manage z/OS started tasks, database monitoring tools, and security controls to maintain operational security

• Develop and maintain comprehensive database administration procedures, system documentation, and disaster recovery playbooks

• Partner with cross-functional project teams to train, mentor, and guide junior database administrators
