The Senior Logistics Process Engineer is responsible for designing, optimizing, documenting, and implementing end-to-end logistics processes for hyperscale and large-campus data center operations. The role focuses on the rapidly evolving logistics requirements created by data center expansion, including warehouse operations, hub-to-spoke and internal material distribution, rack receiving and movement, spare parts, staging, transportation, inventory control, returns, reverse logistics, and system-enabled traceability. The position combines process engineering, industrial engineering, logistics technology, and data analysis to create scalable, safe, measurable operating models.
Key Responsibilities
Design and optimize end-to-end logistics processes across receiving, inspection, staging, put-away, storage, replenishment, picking, internal distribution, rack movements, outbound flows, returns, reverse logistics, and spare-parts management.
Develop scalable internal material-distribution models for data center campuses, warehouses, hubs and spokes, defining material handoffs, routes, service levels, process controls, exception paths, and ownership.
Analyze current-state operations to identify bottlenecks, unnecessary handling, delays, inventory risk, capacity constraints, safety risks, and opportunities for automation or standardization.
Conduct time studies and time-and-motion studies to establish cycle times, standard work, productivity expectations, staffing assumptions, and capacity requirements.
Build or support discrete-event simulations and scenario models to test process flows, warehouse layouts, resource utilization, queues, staffing levels, equipment needs, and future volume growth before implementation.
Create and maintain process documentation including process flows, swimlane diagrams, value-stream maps, decision logic, system interaction maps, business rules, and operational standards.
Design and optimize warehouse layouts and operating processes, including staging zones, storage strategy, replenishment, cycle counting, quarantine, returns, material routes, and location controls.
Translate operational requirements into functional requirements for WMS, TMS, ERP, inventory, product automation, IoT, AI, and other logistics technologies; support selection, testing, implementation, and post-launch optimization.
Define and monitor KPIs including throughput, lead time, cycle time, delivery accuracy, inventory accuracy, productivity, utilization, returns, and inventory turnover; use data to validate improvement impact.
Partner with operations, business intelligence, safety, compliance, and customer teams during data center launches, expansions, service transitions, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Conduct on-site operational assessments, process observations, time studies, implementation validation, and workflow analysis across data center campuses and warehouse environments.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Strong knowledge of logistics, warehouse operations, supply chain, inventory control, internal distribution, transportation, and reverse logistics.
Strong process and industrial-engineering capability, including process design, time studies, capacity analysis, workflow optimization, standard work, and continuous improvement.
Experience with discrete-event simulation, process modelling, or operational scenario analysis is highly desirable.
Strong process-mapping and documentation capability, with the ability to translate complex operations into clear workflows, standards, and system requirements.
Experience with WMS, TMS, ERP, inventory, or logistics platforms
Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to use operational data to identify constraints, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
Strong project, stakeholder, and communication skills with experience coordinating cross-functional process and technology implementations.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in industrial engineering, process engineering , logistics, supply chain, or a comparable operational environment.
Experience supporting large-scale data center, warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or other high-volume mission-critical operations is preferred; large-campus data center logistics experience is highly advantageous.
Professional certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, project management, logistics, or SAFE Agile are beneficial.
