Job Summary: The Senior Live Production Manager for Pork/Meat Processing Plant is responsible for leading all aspects of live poultry production. This includes ensuring optimal animal welfare, achieving production efficiency, and maintaining compliance with both company standards and regulatory requirements. The role requires managing multiple farm operations, collaborating with various departments, and guiding a skilled team to meet production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
  • Supervise daily operations of poultry farms, including breeding, feeding, and animal health.
  • Enforce biosecurity protocols and animal welfare standards.
  • Monitor production metrics to ensure optimal efficiency and output.
Team Leadership:
  • Lead, train, and develop farm managers and production staff.
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment.
  • Conduct performance reviews and implement development plans as needed.
Quality Control:
  • Implement and oversee quality assurance programs to ensure product safety and consistency.
  • Perform routine inspections and audits of farm operations.
  • Address and resolve quality concerns promptly.
Budget and Resource Management:
  • Develop and manage operational budgets for live production.
  • Allocate resources strategically to meet production goals.
  • Monitor inventory of feed, medications, and supplies to maintain adequate levels.
Compliance and Reporting:
  • Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of production data and health statistics.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies during inspections and audits.
Qualifications:
Experience:
  • 5 7 years of experience in poultry production management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or senior role.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale live poultry operations.
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Strong leadership and personnel management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in production data analysis and reporting tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of poultry health, nutrition, and biosecurity practices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in the poultry industry.
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced field environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
Role Requirements (Non-Negotiables):
  • Deep understanding of breeder operations and general poultry production processes.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Significant time will be spent in the field; this is not an office-based role.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves):
  • Prior management experience in live poultry production.

Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Complex Manager and is responsible for overseeing all live production operations, including Breeders, Hatchery, Broilers, Feed Mill, and Live Haul. The selected candidate will manage multiple direct reports and play a key role in achieving production levels that align with customer demand.
