Senior Level Systems Engineer

Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related STEM field (or equivalent experience: +4 years without a degree, +2 years with a non-STEM degree). 12+ years in government or industry systems engineering, including DoD/IC Acquisition, Requirements, or PPBES processes, or large-scale System of Systems / Service-Oriented Architecture work (cloud, on-prem, or hybrid).

Responsibilities:

Join a mission-critical effort supporting the National System of Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial-Intelligence (ASG), and Federal Agencies. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll lead the systems engineering discipline — from requirements through integration and test — that keeps GEOINT accurate, timely, and mission-ready. You'll mentor engineering teams, shape solutions architecture, and operate at the scale of Major Systems Acquisitions spanning multiple agencies.

What You'll Do

• Mentor and guide Mid- and Junior-level systems engineers across requirements, solutions design, integration, and test & evaluation
• Drive requirements traceability and architecture analysis, spotting opportunities to modernize systems, workflows, and cloud capabilities
• Translate mission needs into systems requirements and lead solutions design against emerging technology
• Lead systems integration and allocate requirements across architecture components and programs
• Run Analyses of Alternatives, Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments to inform major technical decisions
• Contribute to strategic planning, risk management, performance engineering, and interface design
• Integrate systems, services, and interfaces across organizational and agency boundaries at the Major Systems Acquisition level

Location: This position is fully onsite in either Chantilly or Springfield, VA

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related STEM field (or equivalent experience: +4 years without a degree, +2 years with a non-STEM degree)
• 12+ years in government or industry systems engineering, including DoD/IC Acquisition, Requirements, or PPBES processes, or large-scale System of Systems / Service-Oriented Architecture work (cloud, on-prem, or hybrid)
• Strong grasp of the full systems engineering lifecycle
• Current knowledge of the NSG/ASG and NRO enterprises
• Prior NGA, NSG/ASG, IC, or DoD program experience
• Active TS/SCI clearance or adjudication in progress, with ability to obtain SCI and pass a polygraph

Desired Qualifications

• Master's degree in Systems Engineering or related STEM field
• MBSE and Digital Engineering process/tool experience
• Familiarity with software development frameworks
• INCOSE CSEP certification
• Geospatial intelligence work experience
• Professional Engineer license
• Active in ACSM, ASCE, ASPRS, OGC, SAREM, or USGIF
• Expertise in photogrammetry, remote sensing, image science, GIS, or geomatics

Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
