Title:Senior-level Assistant Resident Engineer | Ports & Terminals

Our client is a highly respected civil engineering firm, established in 1999 and recognized among NJBIZ's Top 25 Engineering Firms. With a team of experienced engineers and inspectors, the firm has played a key role in delivering landmark transportation projects across New York and New Jersey.
Description:Urgent need for an ARE to perform Construction Management, Inspection, and Closeout services for structural, civil, electrical, and mechanical construction projects associated with the tenant construction and application program. Services include providing construction oversight, field inspection, technical coordination, quality assurance, and administrative support to ensure tenant projects are completed in accordance with plans, specifications, and PANYNJ standards.
Responsibilities:- Act as the day-to-day Construction Manager for assigned projects, reporting directly to the Resident Engineer.
- Assist the Resident Engineer in coordinating with Facility, operations personnel, and other stakeholders to ensure work progresses efficiently while minimizing impacts to operations.
- Assist the Resident Engineer in interpreting and applying contract provisions to administer the contract and enforce policies necessary for the successful completion of projects.
- Advise the Resident Engineer on contractor disputes and assist in resolving issues.
- Supervise and mentor field staff, ensuring they effectively monitor construction activities, verify proper installation of work, and maintain accurate and complete project documentation.
- Review contractor submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Review and approve daily field inspection reports and narratives.
- Prepare Extra Work Order, Net Cost Change Order, Field Ordered Work, and associated cost estimates.
Qualifications:- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience managing and inspecting construction work of various sizes.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC badge and undergo background check.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven experience preparing daily reports and contract documents.
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification required, with training in fall protection, confined space entry, and permit-required confined space entry.
- Willing to work weekends and night shifts when required.
- Proficiency with eBuilder and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong knowledge of construction management practices, contract administration, project documentation, and coordination with multiple stakeholders.
Education:BSCE - Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar engineering degree.
