Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Lead Java Developer for a confidential consulting opportunity supporting a major enterprise application modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will combine strong hands-on Java development expertise with technical leadership capabilities, helping design scalable applications, solve complex engineering challenges, and guide development teams.
This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can contribute to application architecture, promote software engineering best practices, mentor developers, and support the delivery of reliable enterprise-grade solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, enhancement, and modernization of enterprise applications using Java.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Design scalable, maintainable, and high-performance software solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.
- Develop and maintain enterprise applications, APIs, and microservices-based solutions.
- Collaborate with architects, product owners, business stakeholders, and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Design and optimize SQL queries, database schemas, and data access components.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, design principles, and engineering best practices.
- Mentor developers, support technical skill development, and promote knowledge sharing.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, technical discussions, and delivery planning.
- Contribute to CI/CD processes, DevOps practices, automated testing, and deployment strategies.
- Troubleshoot complex application issues and drive root-cause analysis and resolution.
- Support cloud-based application development and modernization initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on software development experience.
- 3+ years of experience leading development teams or providing technical leadership.
- Strong proficiency in Java programming and object-oriented software design.
- Experience developing and supporting enterprise-scale applications.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases, and database design principles.
- Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed application design.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies and modern application deployment practices.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, code reviews, and modern Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices.
- Strong technical problem-solving, analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to balance hands-on development responsibilities with team leadership and technical decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience working with NoSQL databases.
- Exposure to enterprise application modernization and cloud migration initiatives.
- Experience improving application scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
