Role Overview

This technical position is focused primarily on Kubernetes, with Enterprise Linux serving as an important supporting platform. The Kubernetes Administrator will support Kubernetes environments, containerized applications, cloud services, and physical data center environments while working closely with developers and other technology personnel.

The position is based in Harrisburg, PA and requires Pennsylvania residency. The standard work arrangement is Hybrid - 20% Onsite / 80% Remote, with flexibility to be onsite 5 days if required by the management team.

Primary Responsibilities

• Architect and design complex Kubernetes computing environments across on-premises and Cloud/AWS environments.
• Support the implementation, administration, management, and troubleshooting of Kubernetes environments.
• Use Linux experience to support the underlying environment where needed.
• Collaborate closely with developers and other technology personnel.
• Develop, migrate and manage services in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environment, and in physical data centers.
• Support the deployment and ongoing operation of containerized applications.
• Work with Kubernetes configuration and deployment artifacts as part of platform administration and application delivery.
• Participate in operational support activities and the required on-call rotation.

Required Technical Skills

• Proven independent ability to create, configure, and manage Enterprise Linux based systems.
• Strong independent working capability implementing and managing Kubernetes environments.
• Independent ability to create, manage, and troubleshoot Manifest Files.
• Independent ability to develop, read, and update Helm Charts.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tooling.
• Independent working experience using Git.
• Ability to collaborate closely with developers and other technology personnel.
• Advanced capability to develop, migrate and manage services in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environment, and in physical data centers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of network technologies, including load balancing, service APIs, DNS, gateways, proxies, and firewalls.
• Foundational ability to review and troubleshoot Java VM / Tomcat errors and configuration options.
• Foundational understanding of PostgreSQL deployment and configuration.
• Foundational knowledge of Gradle or Maven build processes.
• Independent experience deploying containerized applications in a public cloud provider, including AWS EKS / ECS or Azure ACI / AKS.
