Senior Java Developer

Location: Downey, California

Work Arrangement: Remote

Contract Duration: 1- year, possible extension

Pay: $52/hr

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Programmer to lead and support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of complex enterprise software applications and IT systems. This role requires a highly skilled technical professional who can work independently, provide technical leadership, and deliver high-quality solutions that support critical business operations.

The ideal candidate will possess strong software engineering expertise, experience leading development efforts, and the ability to drive projects from concept through implementation while ensuring performance, scalability, security, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, testing, implementation, and support of complex software applications and enterprise systems.
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into functional software solutions.
• Design application architecture, user interfaces, workflows, and system integrations.
• Develop, maintain, debug, and optimize application code.
• Participate in software quality assurance activities, including testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Integrate hardware and software components to support business and technical requirements.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and implementation plans.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to improve existing systems and processes.
• Ensure adherence to information security, compliance, and software development best practices.
• Support operating system and application environments, including configuration, deployment, and optimization.
• Work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and end users to ensure successful project delivery.
• Independently manage projects and technical initiatives while meeting quality and timeline expectations.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 7 years of experience in software development, systems analysis, design, and programming.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a lead or senior-level technical capacity.
• 5+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
• 2+ years of recent web application development experience using JSP and Struts (Version 1 or 2).

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with Java web application development.

• Proficiency with:

• Java

• JSP

• Struts 1 or 2

• HTML

• CSS

• JavaScript

• Hibernate

• MVC architecture

• Experience with Oracle Database 12c or later.

• Experience developing with Oracle 19c using PL/SQL.

• Experience with Oracle WebLogic 12c.

• Experience using Eclipse IDE and Git version control.

• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles.

• Strong knowledge of relational database concepts, data structures, and database design.

• Experience with software architecture, application design, and systems integration.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Equivalent professional experience may be substituted for education requirements on a year-for-year basis.
