Maximum Authorized Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Required Experience: 7+ years of IT project management, including 3+ years in program, portfolio, or agile project management
We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to support the expansion and adoption of an enterprise Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool. This role focuses on leading project management processes from planning and pilot implementation through enterprise-wide rollout and ongoing adoption.
The successful candidate will help project managers use project scheduling and change management capabilities, support the configuration and implementation of portfolio and program management processes, coordinate software testing, and develop training resources. The role requires a proven project manager who can lead implementation initiatives, support decentralized project management offices, and drive user adoption across a large organization.
Important: This is a project management position, not an architecture, software development, or business analysis role. Candidates must have substantial experience working in an actual IT project manager capacity.
Support project managers in adopting project planning and scheduling capabilities using Microsoft Project or comparable enterprise PPM tools.
Conduct demonstrations, office hours, and one-on-one support sessions to improve user adoption.
Lead the rollout and adoption of project change request workflows within the PPM platform.
Apply experience with portfolio, program, and agile management processes to support the configuration and implementation of relevant PPM modules.
Collaborate with the PPM tool development team throughout the software development life cycle, from requirements definition through testing.
Plan and coordinate pilot implementations, evaluate results, and support enterprise-wide deployment.
Help decentralized project management offices replicate and adopt standardized processes.
Develop and deliver role-specific training materials, user guides, knowledge base articles, and practical tips.
Support governance committees responsible for evaluating, approving, and prioritizing PPM tool enhancements and capabilities.
Coordinate stakeholder engagement, implementation activities, and adoption efforts.
Track implementation progress, identify risks and obstacles, and support timely resolution.
Perform other project-related duties as assigned.
Minimum 7 years of hands-on IT project management experience in an actual project manager role. Experience working on projects in other capacities does not satisfy this requirement.
Minimum 3 years of experience in program management, portfolio management, or agile project management.
Experience with software testing, user training, and development of user guides or knowledge documentation.
High proficiency in project scheduling using Microsoft Project or another enterprise-class PPM tool.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Visio and the Microsoft Office suite.
Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage implementation activities.
Strong communication, stakeholder management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to support user adoption, process standardization, and enterprise-wide implementation initiatives.
Project management certifications such as:
Project Management Professional (PMP)
Program Management Professional (PgMP)
Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP)
Scrum certifications
Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certifications
Experience with ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM).
Experience implementing or expanding enterprise PPM capabilities.
Experience supporting project management offices, governance processes, and portfolio-level reporting.
Primarily remote.
Must be willing and able to report onsite in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, when requested.
Authorized billing is limited to 37.5 hours per week.
The ideal candidate is an established IT project manager with direct experience leading projects and implementing project portfolio management processes. They should be comfortable supporting other project managers, coordinating software delivery and testing, developing training resources, and driving adoption across an enterprise.
Candidates whose experience is primarily in software development, solution architecture, or business analysis should not be submitted unless they also meet the required hands-on IT project management experience.
