Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Architect to lead the architecture, engineering standards, and strategic direction for the enterprise Application Delivery and Load Balancing platforms. This role is responsible for defining enterprise standards for F5 BIG-IP technologies, Global Traffic Management (GTM), Local Traffic Management (LTM), DNS services, SSL/TLS, Web Application Firewall (WAF), and application delivery across on-premises, hybrid cloud, and multi-cloud environments.
The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in F5 technologies with hands-on experience in infrastructure automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), API-driven operations, and modern application delivery architectures. This individual will establish the enterprise strategy for resilient, secure, highly available, and automated application delivery platforms while partnering with networking, cloud, security, application, and infrastructure engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Define enterprise architecture standards for F5 BIG-IP and enterprise application delivery platforms.
Develop multi-year technology roadmaps for load balancing, DNS, Global Traffic Management, SSL offloading, and application delivery modernization.
Design highly available and scalable F5 architectures supporting mission-critical enterprise applications.
Architect Local Traffic Manager (LTM), Global Traffic Manager (GTM/DNS), Access Policy Manager (APM), Advanced WAF, SSL Orchestrator, and BIG-IP Next deployments.
Develop reference architectures for global application delivery, disaster recovery, geographic load balancing, and hybrid cloud traffic management.
Lead the modernization of application delivery platforms through automation, Infrastructure as Code, and API-driven provisioning.
Design automated provisioning and lifecycle management for virtual servers, pools, monitors, certificates, policies, and DNS records.
Establish engineering standards for infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible Automation Platform, Git, REST APIs, and CI/CD pipelines.
Define enterprise standards for SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle management and application security integration.
Collaborate with networking, cloud, Linux, Client, storage, identity, and cybersecurity teams to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions.
Evaluate emerging technologies including Kubernetes Ingress, Gateway API, cloud-native load balancing, and service mesh architectures.
Lead platform modernization initiatives, technology refreshes, migrations, and architecture reviews.
Develop enterprise documentation, standards, operational procedures, and reference designs.
Mentor engineering teams and promote automation-first engineering practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
10+ years of enterprise networking or infrastructure engineering experience.
5+ years in an architecture or technical leadership role.
Expert knowledge of F5 BIG-IP platform architecture.
Deep experience with:

Experience designing globally distributed application delivery architectures.
Demonstrated experience implementing infrastructure automation for F5 platforms using APIs and Infrastructure as Code.
Experience automating F5 deployments using Terraform, Ansible, REST APIs, or declarative automation frameworks (AS3, DO, FAST, or similar).
Experience integrating F5 services with enterprise DNS, PKI, identity, cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong understanding of enterprise routing, switching, firewalls, BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP, and DNS.
Experience with hybrid cloud networking across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
