Application & Business Systems AnalystPosition Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Application & Business Systems Analyst to serve as a subject matter expert supporting business users, IT teams, and third-party vendors. This role will focus on application support, business process analysis, software integrations, testing, production issue resolution, and project management.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with financial systems, SQL, advanced Excel, ERP applications, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and software support.
Position Details- Location: 100% Remote – Dallas, TX
- Preferred Location: Dallas area preferred, but not required
- Schedule: Core business hours, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Central Time
- Employment: Contract with potential conversion to full-time after 90 days
- Experience: 10+ years of related experience

Key Requirements- 10+ years of systems support and analysis experience
- 5+ years of ERP experience; Eclipse preferred
- Strong experience supporting financial software and business processes
- Intermediate Microsoft SQL experience, including writing queries
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- Flat/delimited file integration
- VLOOKUP
- Pivot Tables
- Software application support experience
- Software integration experience
- Project management experience
- Experience developing and executing test plans and test scripts within a Scrum environment
- Strong understanding of data structures and data flow
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Financial Systems & Business Process Experience
Strong understanding of financial business processes, including:
- General Ledger
- Fixed Assets
- Indirect Sourcing and Procurement
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Revenue Accounting
- Tax
- Treasury
- Related system dependencies
Experience with financial systems and applications such as:
- Billtrust
- GetPaid
- TM1
- Oracle
- Kofax
Additional preferred experience includes:
- Oracle
- Linux
- File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
Key ResponsibilitiesApplication & Business Process Support- Serve as a subject matter expert for applications and business processes.
- Support business users, IT teams, and third-party vendors.
- Act as a liaison between business users and IT to ensure effective communication and issue resolution.
- Analyze application and process issues and identify root causes.
- Recommend solutions that support business and organizational goals.
- Perform basic system fixes and data maintenance as needed.
Requirements & Agile/Scrum- Gather and analyze business requirements.
- Develop scope and define backlog items, including epics, features, and user stories.
- Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the Scrum development process.
- Provide status updates and demonstrations to IT and business stakeholders.
- Support software development teams and third-party vendors.
Testing & Quality Assurance- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test scripts.
- Perform regression testing.
- Define expected results and identify defects.
- Escalate defects and work with appropriate teams to support resolution.
- Participate in testing activities with business users and team members.
- Support release and change management procedures.
Data Analysis & Production Support- Analyze data to identify issues, trends, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Conduct root cause analysis for production issues.
- Support production issue resolution across departments.
- Provide 24/7 production support as required.
- Maintain data and perform basic system fixes when necessary.
Integration & Project Management- Support software integration activities.
- Lead the planning and implementation of projects and system enhancements.
- Facilitate the definition of:
- Project scope
- Schedule
- Budget
- Goals
- Deliverables
- Coordinate with key stakeholders throughout project execution.
- Support project management efforts as needed.
Documentation & Training- Prepare technical publications, diagrams, and project specifications.
- Develop user training materials and documentation.
- Deliver user training for new development releases.
- Assist with demos and demonstrations for new system functionality.
Minimum Qualifications
Education- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Equivalent specialized work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience- 10+ years of related professional experience.
- 10+ years of systems support and analysis experience.
- 5+ years of ERP experience, with Eclipse preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of financial business processes.
- Strong understanding of data structures and data flow.
- Microsoft SQL experience, including query writing.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Experience with software integrations and FTP.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer-service focus and accountability for results.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong focus on user experience and technical problem solving.
Work Environment
This is primarily a sedentary role involving frequent computer use, communication with coworkers and clients, and occasional travel to offsite locations as needed.
The position involves a
very complex scope of work, requiring independent judgment, strong prioritization, in-depth technical analysis, and a thorough understanding of business processes and their impact on internal and external stakeholders.
Pay rate: 24.92/hour on W2
