Senior Inventory Control Specialist

Role OverviewThe Senior Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for the organization, control, and accuracy of maintenance spare parts, materials, and consumables used throughout the facility. This role ensures maintenance technicians and production personnel have the right parts available at the right time to support safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations. The Senior Inventory Control Specialist manages inventory transactions, receives and issues materials, supports purchasing activities, maintains storeroom organization, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives that reduce downtime and improve inventory performance.

This position is based at an active mine site and requires daily onsite presence. Work conditions may include uneven terrain, climbing ladders, navigating steps, and exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, rain, or mud. Monday- Friday onsite required.

Key ResponsibilitiesInventory Management

Maintain accurate inventory records within JDEMonitor inventory levels and reorder points to prevent stockouts and minimize excess inventoryConduct cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure inventory accuracyInvestigate and resolve inventory discrepancies promptlyTrack critical spare parts and ensure appropriate stocking levels are maintainedMaintain accurate record of rebuildable inventory parts and communicate status updates

Parts Room Operations

Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and parts for accuracy and conditionOrganize, label, and store inventory in a clean, safe, and efficient mannerAid in the issuing of materials to maintenance and operations personnel while ensuring accurate transaction recordingMaintain proper location control and identification of all stocked itemsKeep the storeroom organized and ready for auditing

Maintenance Support

Work closely with maintenance planners, supervisors, and technicians to support planned and emergency work.Identify critical spare part needs for preventive and predictive maintenance activities.Assist in researching replacement parts and identifying approved alternatives when needed.Support equipment reliability initiatives by maintaining accurate parts information and equipment associations.

Purchasing and Vendor Coordination

Generate purchase requisitions and assist with procurement activities.Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery schedules.Follow up on outstanding orders and expedite critical materials when necessary.Help identify opportunities for cost savings through vendor negotiations, standardization, and inventory optimization.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, storeroom efficiency, and maintenance support processes.Assist with inventory standardization and obsolete material reduction projects.Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and best practices.Support reliability and maintenance excellence initiatives.Support housekeeping and 5S initiatives within the parts room

QualificationsEducation & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of experience in inventory control, maintenance storeroom operations, warehousing, or a related fieldDegree in business, supply chain, industrial maintenance, or related fieldExperience with JDE, SAP, Maximo, or similar systemsForklift certification or ability to become certifiedExperience in manufacturing, mining, processing, or industrial environment

Skills & Abilities:

Strong computer skills and experience with ERP, CMMS, or inventory management systemsKnowledge of industrial maintenance parts, equipment, and materialsAbility to read and interpret vendor catalogs, equipment manuals, and parts breakdownsStrong organizational and attention-to-detail skillsValid driver's licenseKnowledge of inventory optimization and reliability practices
