Senior Instrumentation Designer

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is actively searching for a Senior Instrumentation Designer for our client’s operation near Reading, PA, Kansas City, or Charlotte locations (Remote will be considered). This is a contract position with competitive pay. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on state-of-the-art projects.

Responsibilities:

• Performs moderately to difficult drafting assignments requiring a working knowledge of established drafting techniques, standards, practices and software.
• Oversee the preparation of design and detail drawings from sketches, plans or other design / specification data.
• Direct the work of junior designers and ensure the drawings are in accordance with the client requirements and relevant project specifications.
• Participate in design review with various clients and to advise on technical design and drafting issues and compliance requirements as appropriate.
• Develop layouts, plans, sections, elevations, and details for facilities, equipment, etc. from reference drawings or catalogs.
• Performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
• Responsible for the coordination of all instrumentation and controls drawings.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in electrical design in the power industry.
• Experience with Smartplant Instrumentation (SPI), AutoCAD and MicroStation design software packages, AVEVA E3D is a plus.
• Experience with the Smart Plant 3D, participate in 3D model reviews.
• Knowledge of the fundamental requirements of instrumentation and controls.
• Proficient in the use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
• A Degree or Diploma in instrumentation design and drafting with discipline specific training.
