Senior Instrument and Controls Engineer

Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Instrument and Controls Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering expertise across multiple phases of project development. This role is responsible for reviewing, designing, and implementing instrumentation and control systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and project execution goals.
Key Responsibilities
Review, evaluate, and develop recommendations for instrumentation and control systems during feasibility, basic engineering, and detailed engineering phases
Provide technical guidance to project teams, resolving engineering challenges and ensuring adherence to project timelines and specifications
Support and participate in risk assessments including PHA/HAZOP, LOPA/SIL studies, SIL verification, and Safety Requirement Specification (SRS) reviews
Apply sound engineering judgment when selecting and adapting engineering alternatives throughout project execution
Contribute to the development and maintenance of instrumentation and controls discipline standards and specifications
Develop conceptual and detailed instrumentation and controls requirements, including instrument selection and design guidelines
Collaborate with project teams during optimization efforts at various stages of project implementation
Track, implement, and report instrumentation and controls performance metrics and schedule progress
Prepare weekly and monthly status reports to communicate progress and outcomes to stakeholders
Work cross-functionally with engineering disciplines, departments, sites, and external partners to provide technical recommendations
Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, regulations, and safety guidelines (ASME, API, ISO, IEC, ISA)
Utilize and maintain the SmartPlant Instrumentation database
Generate and review technical reports, specifications, data sheets, P&IDs, loop diagrams, schematics, and field instrumentation drawings
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline with five (5) years of experience in Electrical or Instrumentation & Controls engineering
OR
Master's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline with three (3) years of relevant experience
Experience managing and coordinating with engineering consultants and contractors
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Proficiency with SmartPlant Instrumentation
Preferred Qualifications
Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation & Controls
Instrumentation and controls engineering experience within the mineral processing industry
