Job Title: Senior Infrastructure Architect/Engineer (Storage / Backup Infrastructure Lead)

POSITION OVERVIEW
Own SAN, NAS, block-storage, backup, monitoring, automation, and infrastructure-service operations, lifecycle, availability, and technical standards, including platform decommissioning.
Lead incident response, troubleshooting, RCA, backup/recovery validation, vulnerability remediation, and service restoration for assigned platforms.
Perform and coordinate hands-on data-center infrastructure work for assigned platforms, including hardware installation and removal, rack/stack, cabling, diagnostics, parts replacement, RMA activity, remote hands, vendor coordination, and technical decommissioning. Plan and execute storage and backup upgrades, capacity and performance reviews, replication, recovery tests, and corrective actions.
Administer monitoring and event-management capabilities, alert quality, automation, scripting, configuration-management tools, version control, and storage-related AWS services; coordinate storage and backup integrations with operating systems, database systems, directory services, virtualization platforms, security tools, and applications. Administer and maintain platform-specific access controls for assigned infrastructure in accordance with client security and access-management processes.
Provide technical oversight of vendor/MSP support concerns and project delivery, including case initiation, troubleshooting coordination, escalation, resolution validation, validation of changes and operational deliverables, and communication of service concerns to client management.
Maintain runbooks, architecture documentation, evidence, cross-training, and secondary coverage for compute recovery and DR exercises.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
The Senior Data Platform Administrator is accountable for the reliable operation, lifecycle management, security, resilience, and continuous improvement of enterprise storage, data-protection, monitoring, automation, and supporting infrastructure-service platforms for the HACI environment. The role provides hands-on engineering leadership across Dell Technologies storage and data-protection platforms, Cisco SAN switching and NX-OS, infrastructure monitoring, automation and scripting tools, and storage-related AWS services. The position owns backup and recovery validation, storage capacity and performance, monitoring quality, support of disaster-recovery exercises, and support tooling not assigned to the compute role. It provides secondary coverage for compute recovery, storage integration, and disaster-recovery exercises within global standards, ITSM controls, vulnerability and patch programs, and governance expectations.
WHAT’S NEEDED
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or an associate degree, military/industry training, and equivalent professional experience.
10+ years of progressive enterprise infrastructure experience.
5+ years administering enterprise SAN, NAS, or block-storage platforms and 5+ years administering enterprise backup/recovery platforms.
Advanced experience with one or more Dell Technologies platforms such as PowerStore, Isilon/OneFS, Avamar, or Data Domain
Advanced Cisco SAN switching/NX-OS experience.
Strong knowledge of zoning, provisioning, replication, storage networking, performance, capacity, lifecycle, and recovery validation.
Experience with infrastructure monitoring and event-management capabilities, such as Icinga, Grafana, or comparable monitoring platforms.
Experience with automation, scripting, or configuration-management tools such as Ansible or comparable infrastructure tooling.
Working knowledge of enterprise operating systems and compute platforms: VMware vSphere, Windows Server, Linux, Cisco UCS, Nutanix, and AWS; VMware vSphere administration experience, specifically storage and backup integrations, is strongly preferred.
Experience with ITSM, 24x7 operations, change control, patching, vulnerability remediation, major incidents, and RCA.
Strong preparation and presentation skills for upper Management Levels as well as stakeholder’s status reports
Preferred: VMware vSphere administration experience, specifically storage and backup integrations, Familiarity with SCM platforms such as GitHub or GitLab.
Works independently on complex storage, backup, monitoring, and recovery issues.
Creates standards, runbooks, technical diagrams, capacity/lifecycle plans, and management-ready risk/status communications.
Leads recovery testing, exception resolution, end-to-end event management, alert tuning, and service-improvement activities.
Mentors others, supports cross-training, and demonstrates secondary coverage for compute recovery and DR exercises.
Preferred training/certifications: Relevant Dell Technologies storage/data -protection, Cisco Data Center/SAN, ITIL Foundation, OS, cloud, or automation training.
