    Description

Amazon Web Services is seeking a Senior Industrialization Engineer to lead manufacturing and industrialization activities for New Product Introductions (NPI) from prototype to high-volume production. You will own the translation of product design intent into scalable manufacturing workflows, consult on Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and partner with internal partners and external suppliers to achieve volume output based on business demands.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help.

As a Senior Industrialization Engineer, you work within the strategy and standards set by the team's Principal Engineers, you develop the detailed manufacturing process, stand up production lines, and lead ramp-up activities at large-scale contract manufacturers (CMs). You are measured on getting real product out the door: lines that hit their takt time, OEE, and yield targets, and a repeatable process that scales across sites.

You will spend meaningful time on the factory floor diagnosing bottlenecks, balancing lines, and partnering directly with CM engineering teams to resolve the issues that stand between a design and dependable high-volume output.

Amazon has a global presence. Travel to our data centers (located throughout AMER region), contractor manufacturer visits, and yearly team off-sites are required. Domestic travel is ramp-driven: 30-50% during active production ramps, tapering between platform launches. International support will be part of the job and some international travel may be necessary.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Manufacturing Process Development: Develop and document the detailed manufacturing process, workstation definition, work content, line balancing, and takt time, translating the team's manufacturing strategy into executable production plans.
    • Capacity & Scale Planning: Build the capacity models and scaling approach for each product, deciding how the process ramps from low-volume builds to serialized production across sites, then validate the plan against real line performance.
    • Production Line Build & Ramp: Stand up production lines at contract manufacturers and lead ramp-up from low-volume builds to serialized production, maintaining presence on the factory floor until OEE targets are met.
    • Tooling, Fixturing & Automation: Specify and validate tooling, fixturing, and automation/robotics appropriate to the volume and product, and confirm they perform on the line.
    • Process Analysis & Optimization: Use simulation, process flow analysis, and ergonomics to identify bottlenecks and drive yield improvement, cost reduction, and throughput gains.
    • CM Execution & Qualification: Partner day-to-day with CM engineering teams to qualify processes against defined standards and ensure consistent, repeatable output across lines and sites.
    • Design-for-Manufacturability Feedback: Work with the product design team to flag manufacturability risks early and feed line-level constraints back into design before high-volume commitment.
    • Issue Resolution: Lead the resolution of production issues on the floor, partnering with Quality and Reliability to separate design defects from process/line inefficiencies and restore stability.

So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
