    Summary

    The Tax Accountant will support the North American income tax function by preparing federal, state, provincial, and partnership tax returns while ensuring compliance with applicable tax regulations. This role partners closely with Accounting, Finance, Payroll, and business leaders to support tax planning, tax accounting, audits, and internal controls. The ideal candidate enjoys working with complex tax issues, researching technical matters, and contributing to process improvements in a collaborative environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare and file U.S. federal and state corporate income tax returns (Form 1120), partnership returns (1065), and LLC returns.
    • Prepare Canadian federal and provincial income tax returns for assigned entities.
    • Calculate tax depreciation and prepare federal and state estimated tax payments.
    • Assist with miscellaneous tax filings and other compliance requirements.
    • Assist with quarterly and annual income tax accounting under IAS 12.
    • Reconcile deferred tax balances and tax-related general ledger accounts.
    • Coordinate with Accounting to ensure tax payments, refunds, and journal entries are accurately recorded.
    • Support payroll-related tax activities, including W-2 reconciliations, fringe benefits, and 1099 reporting.
    • Research tax laws and technical issues affecting the business.
    • Analyze the impact of new tax legislation and recommend practical solutions.
    • Prepare technical tax memorandums and supporting documentation.
    • Assist with tax planning initiatives and communicate complex tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders.
    • Support federal, state, and provincial tax audits and respond to notices.
    • Maintain tax process documentation and support internal control compliance.
    • Assist with continuous improvement of tax processes and procedures.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
    • CPA preferred; Master's in Taxation (MST) or Juris Doctor (JD) is a plus.
    • Three or more years of income tax experience within a public accounting firm or large corporate tax department.
    • Strong knowledge of corporate income tax compliance and tax accounting.
    • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, OneSource, tax research software, and fixed asset software; SAP experience is a plus.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships across Finance and business teams.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a collaborative environment.

    Base Pay

    The annual salary range for this position is $75,000–$95,000 annually.
