Senior HVAC Service Technician — Founding Team Member
Put Your Skills to Work. Help Build Something Great.
Company: One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning of South Akron
Location: Akron, Ohio
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $30–$45 per hour, based on skills and experience
About Us: Local Roots. Family Values. A Team Built to Last.
One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning of South Akron is bringing trusted, nationally recognized HVAC service to our local community, and we're building our team from the ground up.
We're locally and family-owned—not a private-equity-backed company or a big corporation.
We believe in doing business the right way: taking care of our employees, treating customers with respect, delivering quality workmanship, and building lasting relationships in the communities we serve.
We're looking for an experienced Senior HVAC Service Technician to join our founding team. This is an opportunity to put your technical expertise to work, help establish our service standards, and play an important role in building a company you can be proud of.
We're looking for more than someone who can diagnose equipment and turn a wrench. We want a seasoned HVAC professional who takes pride in doing the job right, enjoys solving challenging problems, and is willing to share knowledge with other technicians as our team grows.
As a member of our founding team, you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact. Your experience and ideas will be valued, you'll have direct access to leadership, and you'll help shape the standards and culture of our growing operation.
If you're tired of being just another number and want to work for a local, family-owned business where your skills and contributions matter, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do
HVAC Service, Diagnostics & Repair
You'll be one of our go-to technicians for challenging service calls, complex diagnostics, and quality repairs.
- Diagnose and repair residential HVAC systems, including furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, air conditioners, and associated ductwork.
- Handle complex troubleshooting situations, difficult repairs, and second-opinion calls.
- Identify equipment issues accurately and recommend appropriate repair solutions.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance to keep residential HVAC systems operating safely and efficiently.
- Perform HVAC installations as needed while we build and expand our team.
- Troubleshoot electrical, refrigeration, gas, airflow, and system performance issues across multiple equipment types and brands.
- Complete repairs correctly and efficiently, with an emphasis on quality workmanship and first-time fixes.
- Explain system issues, repair options, and pricing clearly so customers can make informed decisions.
- Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, parts used, and recommendations.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures, company standards, and local and state codes.
- Keep your company service vehicle clean, organized, stocked, and well-maintained.
- Participate in a seasonal on-call rotation for emergency service calls as needed.
Senior-Level Technical Leadership
As a senior member of our team, you'll help establish what excellent HVAC service looks like at our company.
- Serve as a technical resource for other technicians when they encounter difficult diagnostic or repair situations.
- Share your knowledge and experience with less experienced technicians and apprentices.
- Help develop consistent diagnostic approaches, repair techniques, and troubleshooting practices.
- Lead by example through professionalism, strong customer service, safe work practices, and attention to detail.
- Help identify opportunities to improve service quality, reduce callbacks, and increase first-time fix success.
- Assist with training and onboarding new technicians as our company grows.
- Encourage teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Help establish a reputation for quality workmanship and dependable service throughout our community.
We're looking for someone who takes pride not only in the work they do, but also in the knowledge they can pass along to others.
Customer Service & Professionalism
- Deliver a professional, respectful, and positive customer experience on every call.
- Communicate technical findings in a way customers can understand.
- Present repair options honestly and clearly, without high-pressure sales tactics.

- Maintain a clean, professional appearance and treat customers' homes with care.
- Build customer trust through dependable service, sound technical judgment, and follow-through.
- Help protect and strengthen our reputation in the local community.
