    Description

Join us at the forefront of Amazon"s sustainability initiatives to work on environmental and social advancements that support Amazon"s long-term worldwide sustainability strategy. At Amazon, we"re working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people who are passionate about making a meaningful impact on communities and the environment while helping shape the future of sustainable business practices.

The Worldwide Sustainability (WWS) organization capitalizes on Amazon"s scale and speed to build a more resilient and sustainable company. We manage our social and environmental impacts globally and drive solutions that enable our customers, businesses, and the world to become more sustainable. Through innovative programs and strategic partnerships, we"re creating lasting positive change in the communities where we operate while advancing Amazon"s commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

Amazon"s Human Rights & Social Impact program drives customer trust, business continuity, and sustainable social impact by embedding respect for human rights throughout Amazon's entire value chain. We implement company-wide standards and commitments such as our Global Human Rights Principles (GHRP) and Supply Chain Standards (SCS). We seek to continuously improve the tools and processes used in integrating human rights due diligence across the business. We work with businesses across Amazon to embed and scale respect for human rights. Within HRSI, the Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) team works with businesses to identify and prioritize human rights risks across the value chain, and develops the methodologies that assess those risks and measure the performance of business efforts to prevent and mitigate harm.

We are hiring a Senior Human Rights Due Diligence Advisor to serve as a specialized subject matter expert operating at the intersection of two areas: (1) due diligence advisory services and (2) methodology and tool development. This is a senior individual-contributor role for someone who can work both strategically and tactically, operate with limited guidance in ambiguous problem spaces, and act as the primary point of accountability for complex human rights due diligence work.

As a trusted advisor to HRSI teams, Worldwide Sustainability partners, and business customers, you will own multiple or complex business relationships, conduct end-to-end risk analyses, and translate international human rights standards into operational guidance. Critically, you will not only bring deep knowledge of frameworks such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights; you will operationalize them by designing quantitative, data-driven methodologies and risk scoring logics that make human rights risk measurable and comparable at enterprise scale. You will also serve as a single-threaded leader for methodology and tool development, defining the strategy and frameworks that enable the entire team"s success.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Own multiple or complex business relationships for human rights due diligence, serving as the primary point of accountability for assigned businesses.
    • Work with businesses to identify and prioritize human rights risks across the value chain.
    • Conduct end-to-end risk analyses, write comprehensive risk reports, and translate findings into actionable insights for business stakeholders.
    • Design and develop quantitative, data-driven methodologies and risk scoring logics that assess human rights risk and measure the performance of business efforts to prevent and mitigate harm.
    • Act as a single-threaded leader (STL) for the end-to-end development of enterprise due diligence methodologies and tools, often in ambiguous contexts where the desired outcome is not previously defined.
    • Partner with other HRDD advisors to understand their use cases and needs, defining strategy and frameworks that enable the broader team to succeed.
    • Assess risks across differing business models, supply chain structures, and regulatory environments while maintaining a big-picture view of how human rights risks connect to business goals and compliance requirements.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to HRSI teams and Amazon businesses, translating international standards into operational realities.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
