The client is looking for a Senior Healthcare Data Integration Interoperability / HIE Technical Analyst, not a generic SQL or SAS developer who combines HL7/EHR integration expertise with SQL/SAS data analysis, HealthShare knowledge, troubleshooting, requirements analysis, and stakeholder management. The person is essentially the technical bridge between NC HealthConnex, hospitals/health systems, EHR vendors, developers, data teams, and clinical stakeholders.
If you're screening candidates
The first things I'd look for on a resume are keywords/experience around:
HL7 v2 | C-CDA | EHR | Epic/Cerner/Meditech | HIE | HealthShare | Interoperability | Interface Engine | SQL | SAS | ETL | Clinical Data | Data Mapping | Data Validation | Healthcare Data Integration | HIPAA | Requirements | Technical Analysis
And I'd specifically verify whether the candidate has actually worked with HL7/EHR integrations, rather than merely listing HL7 or healthcare as a keyword.
The simplest way to explain the job to a candidate
"You're going to be the technical SME responsible for making sure clinical data from EHR systems gets into the HIE correctly, troubleshooting integration and data-quality issues, using SQL/SAS/HealthShare to investigate and validate the data, and coordinating fixes and enhancements with vendors, developers, and clinical stakeholders."
This role will lead technical assistance work for NC HIEA as we work with participants and their electronic health record (EHR) vendors on implementing, improving, and maintaining data integrations. Supports and monitors technical infrastructure for NC HIEA and SAS environments. Manages change orders, bug fixes and updates for the NC HealthConnex Clinical Portal. Develops and supports data queries to assist with data analysis, verifying data extracts, data transformation, load job streams, and developing business analysis reports. Supports various analytic and outbound data services with a specific focus on developing Queries utilizing SQL, SAS, and InterSystems HealthShare tools to perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) and reports as needed.
The ideal candidate will have:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Health Informatics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a technical analyst, data engineer, or related role involving healthcare data and analytics.
