Opportunity overview
Teradynes Compute Test Division (CTD) develops semiconductor test instrumentation, platforms and integrated test-cell solutions for advanced compute devices. We are seeking a Senior Hardware Engineering Manager who manages our DC / power instrumentation hardware team and, in the same role, serves as Technical Project Leader for its most complex programs. The role is based in North Reading, MA, and spans concept through production release and lifecycle transition.
You will be accountable for the overall product and engineering success of these programs: competitiveness, time to market, development cost, cost of goods, quality, reliability and customer readiness. You will lead the hardware engineers who design the product directly. You will lead the wider team (software, FPGA, systems, mechanical, calibration, verification, manufacturing and operations) through influence rather than reporting authority.
In this highly visible role you will co-lead each program with a Program Manager in CTDs "two-in-the-box" model. You own product and technical success; the Program Manager owns planning, schedule, budget, scope and governance. Success requires the curiosity and systems perspective to work beyond your own specialty, see the entire system, align diverse teams and make timely trade-offs.
Key responsibilities
Product and business leadership
Technical and team leadership
Program execution
Risk, opportunity and change management
Cross-functional and stakeholder leadership
All About You:
BSEE required.
10+ years of hands-on experience in hardware design and development, with a focus on board-level (PCB) products.
5+ years of people management, overseeing experienced engineers and/or managers across two or more disciplines, with ownership of hiring, performance reviews and department budget.
5+ years in product leadership roles for complex hardware products.
Proven track record of delivering complex hardware products from concept to manufacturing, with end-to-end ownership.
Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing multiple concurrent projects.
Demonstrated ability to engage with customers and translate market needs into product requirements.
Experience overseeing vendors and contractors.
