SENIOR GROUND MAN — TREE REMOVAL/SERVICES GROUND CREW
Role/Purpose
Senior Ground Man serves as a
lead ground technician, supporting climbers and helping guide less experienced crew members while maintaining high safety and productivity standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead brush and cleanup operations
- Operate chipper as primary ground operator
- Assist with rigging operations and load control
- Direct ground crew movements during cutting operations
- Train and mentor entry-level ground men
- Assist with traffic control setup and teardown
Safety Expectations
- Enforce PPE compliance on the ground
- Monitor drop zones and communicate with climbers
- Identify hazards and correct unsafe behavior
Equipment Authorization
- Chainsaws (ground use)
- Chipper (lead operator)
- Rigging equipment (support role)
- Vehicle Driver
- Equipment Operator
Professional Standards
- Set example for new hires
- Strong communication and situational awareness
- Accountability for ground crew performance
