About the Role
The Company is seeking a Senior General Counsel with a focus on tort litigation, particularly in the area of the sexual abuse exception to governmental immunity. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership on a wide range of legal issues, directly representing the organization in litigation, and overseeing and managing outside counsel. This role involves developing and implementing district-wide litigation strategies, providing legal advice to the Board of Education, and training and supporting litigation attorneys. The Senior General Counsel will also be involved in other areas of litigation, including commercial, civil rights, environmental, and employment and labor.Applicants must have a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and a minimum of ten years of professional legal experience. The role requires a deep understanding of state and federal laws related to civil liability, judicial proceedings, and the rules of evidence. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to analyze and present complex legal matters, draft legal instruments, and negotiate agreements. They should be adept at managing a high-pressure, detail-oriented workload, and be able to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients. The position demands a high level of professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain effective working relationships.
