Title: Senior Full Stack Software Engineer – Cybersecurity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join a Cyber and Information Security engineering team. This role is ideal for a strong software engineer who enjoys building secure, scalable applications and internal tools while working in a collaborative Agile environment.
You do not need to come from a dedicated cybersecurity background, but you should have an interest in learning the security domain and applying strong software engineering principles to solve complex security and technology challenges.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure web applications and engineering tools.
- Develop clean, functional, testable, and maintainable code following modern software engineering practices.
- Build solutions across both front-end and back-end technologies.
- Participate actively in code reviews and collaborate with other engineers to maintain high standards for code quality.
- Develop unit, integration, and end-to-end automated tests.
- Support frequent, reliable software releases through modern CI/CD and DevOps practices.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools and emerging AI capabilities to improve engineering productivity and user experiences.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, engineering, and technology teams to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Develop a strong understanding of end-user needs and continuously improve applications based on user feedback and business requirements.
- Apply security-minded development practices while continuing to expand knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and technologies.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, engineering practices, and industry trends.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a STEM-related discipline, or equivalent practical experience demonstrating a strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
- 7+ years of professional full-stack software development experience within Agile environments.
- Strong experience designing and developing applications using distributed architectures and design patterns.
- Expertise with modern front-end technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular, or Vue.
- Strong back-end development experience with technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and/or Node.js.
- Strong understanding of Java memory management and concurrency models.
- Experience developing complex SQL queries, including database performance analysis and optimization.
- Experience with modern DevOps and CI/CD practices, including automated build, testing, and deployment pipelines.
- Experience with containerization and cloud-based environments.
- Strong understanding of software testing, code quality, and engineering best practices.
- Experience with cloud operations, cloud security, or cybersecurity-focused applications is highly preferred.
- Experience using AI-assisted software development tools or incorporating AI capabilities into applications is a plus.
Work Environment
- Hybrid schedule requiring onsite attendance three days per week in Rockville, MD or Tysons, VA.
