Senior Firewall Engineer

Preferred Certifications: Relevant firewall, network security, or cloud security certifications Required Skills • 7+ years of hands-on experience in firewall engineering and network security operations • Strong, hands-on experience managing Fortinet FortiGate firewalls in an enterprise environment • Proven experience managing the firewall rule lifecycle, including design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization • Experience working in hybrid environments, including both on-premises and cloud infrastructure • Strong understanding of network protocols, network segmentation, VPNs, and secure access design • Ability to analyze firewall/network logs, troubleshoot connectivity and security issues, and support incident response activities • Experience in creating and maintaining technical documentation, network diagrams, and operational procedures • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical teams and business stakeholders Preferred Skills • Experience with Palo Alto Networks firewall technologies • Experience with Prisma SASE or other cloud-delivered firewall/SASE solutions • Additional experience with cloud security technologies and architecture

Job Summary: Client is seeking a Senior Firewall Engineer to provide hands-on management, engineering, and operational support for its hybrid network security environment. This role will lead the day-to-day management and continuous improvement of Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, while supporting the organization's evolving Palo Alto Prisma SASE/cloud security architecture. The Senior Firewall Engineer will manage the full firewall rule lifecycle, troubleshoot security and connectivity issues, support incident response, and ensure firewall configurations are secure, optimized, and well documented. The role will also work closely with vendor engineers during a firewall modernization initiative and help transition the environment into sustainable long-term operations. This position will serve as a key technical resource for firewall operations, network segmentation, secure connectivity, documentation, and security best practices across both on-premises and cloud environments.
