Role Summary:
  • Lead site food safety and quality programs for a food manufacturing facility in Saint Gabriel, Louisiana.
  • Own HACCP, food quality systems, audit readiness, CAPA effectiveness, and training, while supervising QA/QC and lab technicians.
  • Drive data-driven decision-making, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to meet regulatory and customer standards.
Responsibilities
  • Own HACCP/Food Safety and Food Quality programs and ensure effective implementation on the production floor.
  • Ensure site compliance with 21 CFR 117 and relevant GFSI schemes such as SQF, including documentation and ongoing audit readiness.
  • Lead, schedule, and develop QA/QC technicians and plant lab technicians, providing lab coverage as needed.
  • Lead and document internal audits and inspections as the lead auditor, and train internal auditors to SQF, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage new hire and annual training for GMP, HACCP, allergen control, and Food Defense, and maintain complete training records.
  • Maintain programs to evaluate and verify precision and accuracy of testing, measurement, analytical, and processing equipment, including calibration and verification.
  • Investigate non-conformances across raw materials, in-process, finished goods, processing, and audits, and document root causes and effective corrective actions.
  • Maintain a robust CAPA program covering audit findings, product and process deviations, and customer complaints, including verification of effectiveness.
  • Present daily direction setting updates and monthly, quarterly, and annual quality reviews with clear KPIs, trends, and priorities.
  • Co-lead inventory health processes and ensure timely disposition of aged and non-conforming materials, including holds, rework, and releases per policy.
  • Design and coordinate projects that improve product quality, process capability, and operational efficiency in alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Collaborate with Quality leadership to meet customer requirements for testing, labeling, and reporting by updating ERP and LIMS, and managing COAs, QC groups, and label templates.
  • Champion continuous improvement, problem-solving, and a strong food safety culture across site and corporate teams.
  • Report KPI and metric performance, priority issues, and project progress to drive timely actions and results.
  • Demonstrate integrity, customer focus, collaboration, accountability, and a winning mindset in daily operations.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field.
  • Supervisory experience in food or Client manufacturing QA/QC.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP or Preventive Controls, allergen control, Food Defense, and 21 CFR 117 compliance.
  • Experience with GFSI programs such as SQF, including internal auditing, documentation, and audit preparedness.
  • Proven skills in organizing, analyzing, planning, communication, and stakeholder engagement across operations and leadership.
  • Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet tools, and experience with ERP, LIMS, electronic QMS, and controlled templates.
  • High integrity, sound judgment, and professionalism in vendor and customer interactions.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and manage multiple variables in standardized situations while defending decisions with data.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements and regulations and apply them to products and processes
