Description

We're hiring a Senior Fitter/Welder to join our 2nd shift team in the Birmingham area. This role is ideal for an experienced fabricator who can independently fit, assemble, and weld structural and precision metal components from blueprints while maintaining exceptional quality and safety standards.

You'll be responsible for taking projects from layout through final weld, ensuring proper fit-up, producing high-quality welds, and inspecting finished work before it moves to the next stage of production.

Schedule: 2nd Shift

Pay: $29-30/hr

What You'll Do:

  • Fit and assemble metal components using blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
  • Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on a variety of fabricated components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
  • Verify proper fit-up, dimensions, and alignment before welding.
  • Inspect completed welds and assemblies to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Operate grinders, torches, power tools, and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot fitment and welding issues and perform repairs as needed.
  • Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
  • Keep work areas clean while following all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and production personnel to meet production schedules.


Requirements
  • 5+ years of fitting and welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Proficiency with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes.
  • Strong blueprint reading and weld symbol interpretation skills.
  • Experience fitting and assembling fabricated steel components.
  • Ability to use grinders, cutting torches, measuring tools, and fabrication equipment.
  • Strong understanding of welding quality standards and fabrication best practices.
  • AWS certification is a plus but not required.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
