    Description

RME Finance Analysts own cost across the network. They provide FP&A support for North America Field RME teams, covering MEC, controllership, and operational planning cycles. Success in this role requires intellectual curiosity, comfort with ambiguity, and a genuine drive to improve how work gets done.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Run Month End Close for Personnel and Parts, Repairs, and Maintenance (PRM) accounts. You are accountable for accuracy, completeness, and controllership compliance from start to finish.
    • Own the financial planning cycles, including forecast modeling, bridging, and variance analysis. You work with limited guidance and are expected to identify cost drivers and bring clear findings to senior managers.
    • Deliver data-driven narratives that shape how leaders make decisions. Push back on business partner plans when the numbers tell a different story.
    • Manage controllership for headcount and Coupa. When you see a gap, you fix it. Hold yourself and the process to a high standard.
    • Build relationships across Field and Central RME, Finance, and Operations. Your credibility comes from the quality of your work and trust built over time.
    • Find ways to make the work better. Lead process improvement projects, document what you learn, and share across the team.
    • Use AI and automation to handle routine work. The goal is to spend time on work that actually matters.
    • Use QuickSight, Cognos, and other internal systems to surface insights from financial and productivity data.
    • Help grow the people around you-contribute to onboarding, share knowledge, and be a resource for junior teammates.

    A day in the life

The FP&A work is cyclical. MEC runs Days 1-5 each month, with five budget cycles per year. That core work is non-negotiable. But about 15% of your time is spent on harder, less-defined problems-that"s where the real opportunity is.

RME is one of Amazon"s fastest-growing organizations. You"ll be in the middle of the AI, robotics, and automation buildout across Stores sites. You"ll partner with network leaders, influence how cost is managed in the field, and continuously look for ways to automate what doesn"t need a human.

No two days look the same.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
