    Highlights

Design the financial logic and rules that determine how costs should be attributed to programs - including decisions like whether storage costs should follow cube footprint or throughput intensity, how commingled delivery routes should split across programs, and how temperature-zone cost differentials should be reflected. As these programs scale rapidly on shared fulfillment infrastructure, you will build the dedicated cost attribution frameworks that give each program its own accurate, ASIN-level economics - replacing blended assumptions with automated, auditable logic embedded directly in Amazon"s allocation engines.

    Description

We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to own how costs are attributed across Amazon"s Sub-Same-Day (SSD) network, with an initial focus on perishables programs. As these programs scale rapidly on shared fulfillment infrastructure, you will build the dedicated cost attribution frameworks that give each program its own accurate, ASIN-level economics - replacing blended assumptions with automated, auditable logic embedded directly in Amazon"s allocation engines.

This is not a traditional FP&A. You will translate business and financial intent into system-level requirements, working directly with allocation model owners and engineering teams to close methodology gaps and validate that outputs reflect economic reality. You"ll need deep cost accounting intuition combined with the ability to navigate ambiguity in a matrixed organization where no established playbook exists.

    What Makes This Role Exciting

    • You"ll define how every cost line in the P&L is measured for programs standing up dedicated financial infrastructure for the first time
    • You"ll work at the intersection of finance and engineering, translating allocation methodology into technical requirements that change how Amazon"s systems process costs
    • You"ll enable entirely new capabilities - system native speed-tier cost differentiation, ASIN-level unit economics, and the precise cost foundation that drives confident investment and expansion decisions

    Key job responsibilities

    • Design the financial logic and rules that determine how costs should be attributed to programs - including decisions like whether storage costs should follow cube footprint or throughput intensity, how commingled delivery routes should split across programs, and how temperature-zone cost differentials should be reflected
    • Translate financial methodology into system-level technical requirements that engineering and model-owner teams can implement - serving as the bridge between "how finance needs it to work" and "how the system is built to do it"
    • Own the accuracy of upstream financial data that feeds every downstream system - including product hierarchy classification, GL-to-program mappings, cost center assignments - establishing monitoring and governance mechanisms so data quality doesn"t silently degrade as programs scale
    • Validate automated cost outputs against legacy processes and known benchmarks during transition, and establish ongoing accuracy monitoring to ensure cost attribution remains correct as volume mixes shift and fulfillment models evolve
    • Lead cross-functional working sessions with model owners, Controllership, Transportation Finance, Accounting, and Engineering teams
    • Develop repeatable frameworks and documentation that can be leveraged across different organizations

    About the team

The Finance Foundation & Enablement (F2E) team is a program-building team within the Rapid and Rural Logistics Finance organization.

We build and evolve the financial systems foundation that enables these programs to measure, understand, and optimize their economics - from automated cost allocation at the ASIN level to enabling the reporting dimensions, analytical tools, and planning capabilities the organization needs to make faster, more reliable decisions.

Our vision is to be the blueprint for how any new Amazon program - regardless of geography or fulfillment model - stands up its financial infrastructure from day one. We design solutions that are scalable worldwide; our frameworks, methodologies, and playbooks make financial system integration a solved problem.

So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
