    Description

Drive the Financial Strategy Behind One of Amazon"s Most Transformative Businesses

Amazon"s Alexa organization is redefining how hundreds of millions of customers interact with technology - and we need a Senior Financial Analyst on our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team who wants to be at the center of it. This isn"t a back-office finance role. You"ll sit at the intersection of strategy and execution - owning the financial planning, forecasting, and analytical frameworks that guide how Alexa invests, grows, and scales. From building the models that shape OP cycles to delivering variance analyses that change the conversation in leadership reviews, your work will have direct, measurable impact on one of the fastest-growing businesses in Amazon"s portfolio.

    What You"ll Do

Own the Planning Cycle End-to-End - Lead the financial planning and forecasting processes (OP1, OP2, monthly/quarterly guidance) for your business area, building high-fidelity models that translate strategic ambitions into actionable financial plans with robust checks and balances.

Deliver Actionable Variance & Performance Analysis - Go beyond reporting the numbers. Conduct deep-dive variance analyses (actuals vs. plan, month-over-month, year-over-year), identify the why behind the trends, and surface insights that drive corrective action and inform forward-looking decisions.

Partner as a Strategic Finance Advisor - Work directly with business leaders and senior executives as a trusted thought partner - not just a number provider. Translate financial data into strategic narratives that influence investment priorities, resource allocation, and long-range planning.

Build & Maintain Scalable Financial Models - Design and own sophisticated P&L, revenue, and cost models that support scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and business case development. Your models will be the foundation for decisions worth millions.

Drive Cross-Functional Alignment - Collaborate with product, engineering, marketing, and operations teams to ensure financial perspectives are embedded in business decisions. Own the bridge between operational metrics and financial outcomes.

Elevate the FP&A Function - Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and improve existing planning and reporting processes. Bring a continuous improvement mindset to how the team operates - think mechanisms, not just deliverables.

    What Makes This Role Special

Strategic Seat at the Table - FP&A at Alexa isn"t a support function; it"s a strategic partner. You"ll have regular visibility with VPs and Directors, and your analyses will directly shape how the business allocates capital and prioritizes investments.

Impact at Scale - Alexa touches hundreds of millions of customers worldwide. The financial frameworks you build will influence how Amazon invests in AI, voice technology, and the next generation of ambient computing.

Intellectual Depth - This is a business that thrives in ambiguity. You"ll tackle complex, undefined problems - from emerging revenue streams to evolving cost structures - where the right financial lens can unlock entirely new ways of thinking.

Growth Trajectory - The Alexa business is evolving rapidly, creating abundant opportunities for expanded scope, increased ownership, and career acceleration within Amazon Finance.

    What We"re Looking For

A self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and sees undefined problems as opportunities, not obstacles

Strong FP&A fundamentals - you"re fluent in planning cycles, P&L management, variance analysis, and financial modeling

Exceptional Excel/financial modeling skills with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to high-fidelity outputs

Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority workstreams simultaneously (OP cycles, monthly closes, ad-hoc analyses) without sacrificing quality

Strong interpersonal and communication skills - you can distill complex financial narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences, and you"re comfortable presenting to senior leadership

Experience building scalable processes and mechanisms, not just one-off analyses

Intellectual curiosity and a genuine passion for understanding what drives business performance at a unit-economic level

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
