Position: Senior Financial Accountant

About the Opportunity
A stable and well-established West Michigan organization is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join its finance team. This position offers a unique blend of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, audit support, and business partnership responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will enjoy working across multiple operating units, helping leaders understand financial performance, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain general ledger activity and prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
- Monitor financial performance and provide budget-to-actual analysis for operational leaders.
- Serve as a trusted financial resource to department managers by helping them understand expenditures, budgets, and financial trends.
- Assist with procurement-related financial processes and expenditure oversight.
- Prepare and present financial reports, analyses, and recommendations to leadership.
- Support external audit requirements and assist in preparing financial documentation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, reporting enhancements, and operational efficiencies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to ensure sound financial management practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Finance or Business degree with substantial accounting coursework considered.
- Four or more years of professional accounting, audit, finance, or financial reporting experience.
- Strong understanding of financial statement preparation and general accounting principles.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, SUMIFS, and data analysis functions.
- Experience working with ERP or financial management systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
