Description

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is searching for a Senior Field Manager for a direct-hire assignment with one of our premier Generative AI technology clients in New York City.

This is a unique opportunity to join a rapidly growing enterprise AI company focused exclusively on the investment management industry. As a Senior Field Manager, you will own a portfolio of approximately 3–5 client relationships, helping leading asset managers, hedge funds, and investment firms transform their businesses through Agentic AI. You will partner closely with executive stakeholders, Forward Deployed Engineers, Product, and Engineering teams to identify and scope high-value AI use cases, drive successful execution, and continuously expand client adoption of the platform.

This is not a traditional Project Manager, Account Manager, or sales role. The model is closer to management/technology consulting, combining client relationship ownership, structured problem solving, technical delivery leadership, and account growth. We are seeking a technically credible consultant who can take an ambiguous business challenge, understand the underlying client need, define and scope the appropriate solution, and work closely with technical teams to deliver measurable business value.

This is a true field-based client leadership role. The Senior Field Manager is expected to spend meaningful time onsite with assigned clients to build trusted relationships and drive successful outcomes. Client locations and travel requirements will vary by engagement and may include regional travel as well as occasional domestic travel and overnight stays.

Responsibilities

  • Own the success and growth of approximately 3–5 investment management client relationships, serving as the primary strategic relationship owner.
  • Build trusted partnerships with senior and executive stakeholders across Investment, Technology, Operations, and Business leadership.
  • Lead structured client discovery to understand business objectives, workflows, pain points, and opportunities for transformation.
  • Translate ambiguous business challenges into clearly defined AI use cases, solution requirements, project scope, success criteria, and delivery plans.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and enhance investment research, portfolio management, trading, and operational workflows through Agentic AI.
  • Partner closely with Forward Deployed Engineers to design, implement, refine, and expand AI-powered workflows and solutions.
  • Coordinate delivery across Product, Engineering, Architecture, and Executive Leadership to ensure successful execution and measurable client outcomes.
  • Manage and mentor Forward Deployed Engineers supporting assigned client engagements.
  • Lead executive meetings, discovery workshops, solution planning sessions, steering committees, business reviews, and roadmap discussions.
  • Proactively manage delivery risks, resolve issues, and maintain executive alignment throughout the engagement lifecycle.
  • Continuously identify additional business problems and AI use cases that can expand the client relationship and increase adoption of the platform.
  • Serve as the connective tissue between client executives and Transient's technical teams, ensuring that business objectives translate effectively into technical execution.
  • Help establish repeatable consulting, delivery, and client-management best practices as the Field organization scales.
  • Travel to assigned client locations as necessary to build relationships and drive successful delivery, including occasional domestic and overnight travel.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of external client-facing experience in management consulting, technology consulting, enterprise technology advisory, solution architecture, or similar client delivery leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience owning external enterprise client relationships, preferably within a consulting, professional services, or enterprise technology organization.
  • Proven ability to use a structured, repeatable consulting approach to uncover client pain points, define business requirements, scope solutions, establish success criteria, and drive initiatives from discovery through delivery.
  • Strong Financial Services experience, preferably within asset management, hedge funds, investment management, wealth management, or capital markets.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple complex client engagements simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to lead complex software or technology initiatives from strategy and discovery through execution and adoption.
  • Experience identifying opportunities to expand existing client relationships, introduce additional capabilities, or grow the scope of an engagement.
  • Strong technical credibility and the ability to work effectively with software engineers, architects, product teams, and other technical resources.
  • Excellent executive communication, presentation, facilitation, and relationship-management skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to bring structure to ambiguous business challenges.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical delivery teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to client locations based on engagement requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with a management consulting, technology consulting, Forward Deployed Engineering, or technical client advisory organization such as Palantir, Accenture, Deloitte, EY, PwC, Slalom, Thoughtworks, Publicis Sapient, Capgemini, or a similar organization.
  • Direct experience supporting asset managers, hedge funds, or other buy-side investment organizations.
  • Experience delivering AI, data, analytics, cloud, digital transformation, or enterprise software initiatives.
  • Experience identifying and scoping new technology or AI use cases with business stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of Python applications, APIs, enterprise integrations, cloud platforms, distributed systems, or modern software engineering practices.
  • Exposure to Agentic AI, Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Model Context Protocol (MCP), or AI application development.
  • Familiarity with investment management technology platforms, market data, portfolio management, trading systems, or investment research workflows.
  • MBA or advanced technical degree.

What Success Looks Like

Successful Senior Field Managers become trusted advisors to their clients. They combine the structured problem-solving approach of a management consultant with the technical credibility of a technology leader and the commercial mindset of a client partner.

They know when being in front of the client matters. They uncover business problems that are worth solving, translate those problems into well-defined AI use cases, mobilize the appropriate technical resources, drive successful execution, demonstrate measurable value, and continuously identify opportunities to deepen and expand the relationship.
