Moodro is seeking a Senior Field Applications Engineer to lead the technical execution of customer demonstrations, field evaluations, operational exercises, partner integration tests, and internal R&D testing.
Position Summary
As the primary technical owner for every field event, this individual ensures all equipment, systems, and demonstration scenarios are thoroughly prepared, flawlessly executed, and continuously improved.
Approximately 80% of the role is dedicated to customer demonstrations, evaluations, integration events, and operational exercises, while 20% focuses on field testing new product developments and providing structured feedback to support continuous product improvement.
Working closely with the Project Manager, who oversees the business and program management aspects of each event, the Senior Field Applications Engineer owns all technical planning, execution, troubleshooting, and customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical planning and execution of customer demonstrations, field evaluations, operational exercises, and internal testing events.
- Translate technical requirements into equipment plans, execution strategies, and operational objectives.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify, prepare, test, and deploy all required equipment, ensuring every system arrives on-site fully verified and mission-ready, including appropriate spare equipment.
- Execute demonstration scenarios and serve as the primary technical interface with customers, test officers, industry partners, and other key stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot and perform field repairs to minimize downtime and ensure successful event execution.
- Coordinate and support the technical personnel assigned to each event, ensuring alignment on technical objectives and execution.
- Prepare daily reports documenting event outcomes, technical issues, lessons learned, and recommendations for product and process improvements.
- Coordinate shipment and return of demonstration equipment between event locations and company facilities.
- Manage, maintain, organize, and upgrade the company's demonstration equipment inventory between events.
- Prepare equipment for upcoming demonstrations and support field testing of new product developments and prototypes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline required.
- 5+ years of experience in field engineering, field applications engineering, systems integration, technical demonstrations, defense systems, robotics, autonomous systems, aerospace, telecommunications, or similarly complex technical environments.
- Experience planning and executing customer demonstrations, field testing, operational evaluations, or system deployments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and integrated system issues in the field.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate technical teams and manage multiple priorities in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Strong written communication skills with experience preparing technical reports and documenting lessons learned.
- Willingness to travel extensively (approximately 60–80%) and work in demanding field environments.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting U.S. Department of Defense or allied military customers.
- Experience with unmanned systems, counter-UAS (C-UAS), electronic warfare (EW), signals intelligence (SIGINT), RF systems, tactical communications, or other advanced defense technologies.
- Active U.S. security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one is a plus.
