    We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for the overall project estimating process and will provide leadership, training, and mentoring to the estimating team. The Senior Estimator will work closely with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to evaluate cost factors and develop comprehensive construction estimates. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Estimating, this role is critical to ensuring accurate, competitive, and timely bids.

    Key Responsibilities


    • Analyze construction documents, specifications, proposals, and related materials to develop accurate time, cost, and labor estimates.
    • Review and integrate historical data (e.g., purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis) into unit and man-hour estimates.
    • Attend pre-bid meetings and review specifications and drawings to understand the full scope of work.
    • Lead the estimating process for complex conceptual and final bid projects.
    • Provide technical guidance to team members preparing discipline-specific estimates.
    • Maintain detailed documentation to support all estimate figures.
    • Collaborate with the contracting department to prepare bid inquiries and evaluate subcontractor and supplier submissions.
    • Monitor awarded contracts and assist in pricing change orders, extra work items, and material procurement as needed.
    • Continuously mentor and support the growth and development of junior estimators.
    • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, labor, material, and equipment pricing using HCSS HeavyBid software (required).
    • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for completeness, scope alignment, and competitiveness.
    • Coordinate with operations to support project buyout and assist in developing budgets after project award.
    • Attend site visits to assess conditions affecting cost and constructability.
    • Ensure all estimates comply with company standards, safety requirements, and South Carolina DOT specifications.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


    • achelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent field experience.
    • Minimum of 6 years of heavy-civil construction experience (previous field experience)
    • At least 4 years of hands-on estimating experience.
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders, including owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
    • HCSS HeavyBid experience is required.
    • Bluebeam, Agtek, AutoCAD, and digital takeoff experience preferred.
    • Experience with earthwork, utilities, roadway, and bridge projects in Upstate South Carolina region preferred.
    • Prior exposure to South Carolina DOT or municipal bid processes strongly desired.
