Senior Estimator

Our client is a well-established construction and infrastructure firm with more than a century of industry experience delivering transportation, government, healthcare, education, commercial, and municipal projects. The Senior Estimator will play a critical role in project pursuit strategy, client development, and preconstruction leadership, while working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders. Job Description

  • Lead preconstruction and estimating activities for civil, structural, and building construction projects.
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new project opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and detailed construction estimates.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and develop project budgets and Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) proposals.
  • Create bidder lists and solicit pricing from subcontractors and material suppliers.
  • Analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure complete scope coverage and cost competitiveness.
  • Participate in client presentations, budget reviews, and GMP discussions.
  • Collaborate with design teams to identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions.
  • Maintain historical cost databases and market pricing information.
  • Assist with construction planning, project phasing, logistics planning, and preliminary schedules.
  • Attend owner, architect, engineer, and consultant meetings throughout the preconstruction process.
  • Support project turnover activities and partner with operations teams to ensure a seamless transition.
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate project progress and compare field conditions with estimating assumptions.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship within the estimating and preconstruction team.
  • Serve as a key Senior Estimator supporting both public and private sector projects.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and strategic resource throughout the project lifecycle as a Senior Estimator.

The Successful Applicant

  • 10+ years of preconstruction and estimating experience.
  • Strong background in civil and structural construction projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience preparing estimates from conceptual design through GMP development.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Proficiency with estimating, scheduling, and quantity takeoff software.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • OSHA certification preferred.

  • Base Salary: $150,000 - $200,000

Work Schedule

  • Standard schedule of approximately 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
  • Additional hours may be required based on project demands and critical construction activities
