Get ready to unearth your true potential and dig into the exciting world of HEI CivilWe are looking to hire an experienced Senior Estimator to join our teamResponsibilitiesOverall management of the estimating teamThoroughly review all project documents and items required to assemble an estimate create a budget and guarantee the documents accurately reflect agreements made with the client to determine the scope of workSchedule bid reviews with Estimators and Field General Superintendents and conduct site visits with Estimators before bid dayWork with Estimators to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project and establish a project strategy and scheduleReview all bids and scope issues within estimatingCoordinate and provide updates to VP of Estimating and Project ManagementMaintain an acceptable backlog and profit through estimatingCreate and retain excellent relationships with clientsAssign responsibilities for estimating team on each projectPrepare instructions to bidders bid form and other bid solicitation information as requiredMaintain and communicate data on construction and material cost trends affecting project costsPrepare estimates by applying unit rates for man hours labor materials and construction equipment costs in conjunction with cost determination calculating extensions the application of standard factors overhead rates and other feesExplore alternate means and methods to determine the most cost-effective alternativeCollect evaluate and document historical cost information for the development of future estimatesConduct site visits to assess site conditions design issues scope and to determine how subcontractor pricing may be affected for buyoutFollow and create estimating proceduresDevelop an estimate schedule and meet actual schedule setAssemble review and deliver estimatesAggressively market new and present clientsBuild effective relationships with customers accounting department Project Managers Superintendents General Superintendents subcontractors and suppliersFind new places for projects to bid i.e. private owners engineers municipalities etc.Maintain a level of involvement with projects throughout the building phaseParticipate in periodic reviews and visits to projects as appropriateTrain and development junior estimatorsOther duties as assigned by managerKnowledge Skills and AbilitiesComputer skills in Microsoft Office Microsoft Project and HCSS estimating softwareAbility to breakdown construction operations into a logical sequence of activitiesSuperior customer service skills requiredMust be able to effectively communicate and manage subcontractorsAttention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepanciesAbility to work as part of a team throughout pre-construction stageMust be able to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job doneEffective communication skillsStrong organizational and interpersonal skillsEducation and Experience10 years of experience with Civil andor Heavy Highway ConstructionExperience with underground utilities Earthwork and Roadway preferable
