Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Project Manager to lead environmental assessment and remediation consulting projects in the Buffalo, New York area. This senior-level position combines technical environmental expertise with project leadership, client relationship management, staff development, and financial oversight.
The successful candidate will manage projects throughout the full lifecycle, from proposal and scope development through execution, reporting, invoicing, and closeout. This individual will also serve as a primary client contact, provide senior technical review, mentor junior professionals, and help identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct multiple environmental assessment and remediation projects from initial proposal through final project closeout.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and communicate technical findings, recommendations, schedules, and project updates.
  • Develop and review proposals, scopes of work, budgets, fee estimates, and project modifications.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including budgets, profitability, invoicing, and collections.
  • Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation across concurrent assignments.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to environmental professionals and project teams.
  • Mentor junior staff and support their technical and professional development.
  • Independently perform Phase I Environmental Site Assessments while meeting Environmental Professional requirements.
  • Review Phase I ESA reports and other environmental deliverables prepared by junior team members.
  • Prepare and critically evaluate environmental reports, technical analyses, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Conduct senior-level quality reviews of project deliverables.
  • Lead client meetings and technical project discussions.
  • Maintain established client relationships while identifying opportunities for additional environmental consulting work.
  • Apply environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and investigation methodologies to project planning and execution.
  • Collaborate with department leadership on staffing, technical, operational, and project-management matters.
  • Promote safe, timely, high-quality, and financially responsible project delivery.
Required Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of relevant environmental consulting or closely related professional experience.
  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental or Natural Science, Geology, or another discipline applicable to environmental consulting.
  • Ability to obtain the applicable local professional license through reciprocity within three months of hire.
  • Ability to secure additional licenses or certifications when required by specific project assignments.
  • Extensive understanding of environmental regulations, principles, permitting requirements, investigation methods, and consulting practices.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including oversight of multiple complex assignments.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, coaching, and staff-development abilities.
  • Experience managing project budgets and financial performance.
  • Ability to assess and provide senior-level review of technical work prepared by others.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and client communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Business development skills with the ability to support client and account growth.
  • Valid driver's license when driving is required as part of assigned job responsibilities.
Candidates with qualifying U.S. military experience at the E-7 rank may meet the experience profile when they also satisfy the required education and licensing criteria.
