We are seeking a Senior Enterprise Integration Engineer to play a key hands-on role in designing, building, and supporting enterprise integrations across SAP and non-SAP applications, external business partners, and enterprise data and analytics platforms. This role is a key contributor to our integration modernization strategy, supporting SAP BTP Integration Suite, B2B/EDI partner connectivity, and analytics and data platforms that consume data from a variety of enterprise and external sources.
SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) serves as the primary middleware, alongside other enterprise integration platforms (such as Azure Integration Services and BizTalk) where appropriate, for integrations connecting SAP S/4HANA with SAP and non-SAP systems. This role blends systems integration engineering (connecting enterprise applications and platforms) with data engineering (building reliable data pipelines and data integration patterns, including batch, streaming, and virtualized access, for downstream analytics and reporting).
This position is well-suited for a senior engineer who is comfortable owning integration solutions end-to-end while collaborating closely with SAP, application, infrastructure, and analytics teams. The role emphasizes designing integrations with built-in, automated monitoring and alerting, enabling proactive detection and prevention of failures across enterprise interfaces rather than reliance on manual monitoring.
Essential Job Functions
Enterprise Integration
Design, develop, and support application-to-application (A2A) and business-to-business (B2B) integrations across SAP and non-SAP systems
Serve as a senior technical contributor responsible for integration solution design, implementation, and production support
Apply integration best practices including message transformation, error handling, retries, reprocessing, and monitoring
Develop and maintain integration documentation, standards, and operational runbooks
Partner with architecture and platform teams to align integration patterns and tooling with enterprise standards
SAP Integration & SAP BTP
Design and support integrations with SAP S/4HANA using IDocs, APIs, events, and OData services
Build and maintain integrations using SAP BTP integration capabilities as the primary middleware for SAP non-SAP connectivity, with other enterprise integration platforms used where appropriate
Collaborate with SAP functional and technical teams to ensure integration solutions align with business processes
External Partner Integration
Support integrations with external business partners, including coordination of connectivity, testing, and production readiness
Troubleshoot and resolve partner integration issues in collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders
Ensure partner integrations are stable, scalable, and supportable over time
Data & Analytics Integration
Integrate SAP and non-SAP data sources into enterprise data and analytics platforms to support reporting and downstream consumption
Design and support data pipelines and data integration patterns, including batch ingestion, streaming, dataflows, and virtualized access, depending on use case
Enable reliable movement and access to data across operational systems, analytical platforms, and semantic layers
Partner with analytics and data platform teams to ensure integrations deliver analytics-ready data aligned to enterprise semantic models
Operations & Continuous Improvement
Support integrations across their full lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, and production support
Design and implement built-in, automated monitoring, alerting, and notifications that provide proactive visibility into integration health and failures
Identify failure patterns and implement preventative safeguards to reduce repeat incidents across interfaces
Establish and maintain operational dashboards, alerts, and runbooks
Identify integration risks, performance issues, and technical debt
Contribute to integration modernization initiatives and platform improvements
Collaboration & Innovation
Partner with SAP developers, application teams (SAP and Non-SAP), data architects, analysts, infrastructure engineers, and security teams to deliver reliable system and data solutions.
Continuously evaluate and adopt new integration capabilities that improve scalability, reliability, and developer productivity.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in IT preferred such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
7+ years of experience in enterprise integration, middleware development, systems integration, or data integration
Strong hands-on experience designing and supporting SAP S/4HANA integrations, including mandatory experience with SAP IDocs
Experience using SAP BTP as an integration or middleware platform, with exposure to other enterprise integration platforms preferred
Strong understanding of:
SAP integration mechanisms including IDocs, APIs, events, and OData services
