Senior Engineer, Software

Role Overview: The Senior Engineer, Software creates software for mobile devices like Android, iOS, and/or Cross-Platform, using modern software practices such as pure functions, interfaces, higher-order abstraction, and functional design patterns, etc. Base salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the successful candidate, as well as factors such as internal equity, cost of labor in the hiring location, and alignment with market data.

Role Overview:

The Senior Engineer, Software creates software for mobile devices like Android, iOS, and/or Cross-Platform, using modern software practices such as pure functions, interfaces, higher-order abstraction, and functional design patterns, etc. They are responsible for troubleshooting and solution creation for our internal and external customers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Development of Mobile Printing Applications

• • Develop critical parts of all software and example code produced by the team
  • Maintain critical parts of all software for which the team is responsible
  • Create critical improvements to the software for which the team is responsible
  • Write code independently without the need of online or other sources, utilizing a strong understanding of coding concepts
  • Write code that is self-documenting so that it can be clearly and effectively understood
    
    

Subject Matter Expert in Mobile App development

• • Demonstrate direct and useful knowledge of best practices and the reasons behind them
  • Work closely with the Engineering Manager to ensure code and design quality

    
Subject Matter Expert in Brother SDKs and APIs

• • Demonstrate direct and useful knowledge of best practices and the reasons behind them
  • Communicate Software Development Kit (SDK) changes to the parent dev team in clear and concise terms
  • Make necessary code adjustments to align with parent dev team’s requirements

 

Investigating and troubleshooting customer issues with a solution-oriented approach

• • Leads with quick but thorough investigation habits that are repeatable and that produce immediate outcomes that are understandable to others

 

Knowledge Transfer to Customers & Team

• • Provide educational support and development assistance to our enterprise and customer teams
  • Educate & transfer engineering knowledge to other colleagues on a consistent basis
  • Responsible for knowing how our products integrate into customers’ field solutions
  • Ensure timely delivery of succinct content in small, digestible chunks
  • Provide relevant and explicit modeling and examples in an effective way, clearly sharing information while also answering questions regarding the material
  • Educate the team on Best Practices on a regular basis

 

SDK fixes and development

• • Develop critical parts of all SDKs for which the team is responsible
  • Maintain critical parts of the SDKs for which the team is responsible

Experience & Qualifications:

Education Level

• • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in Software Engineering or related field Preferred

 

Experience Level

• • 5 + years of experience with mobile applicant development
  • 1+ year of experience with developing and modifying SDKs and APIs

 

Software/Technical Skills

• • Advanced proficiency in Xcode, Android Studio, Visual Studio Code/Visual Studio, Kotlin, SwiftUI, C#
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)

 

Other Skills/Knowledge/Abilities 

• • Clear documentation skills
  • Effective communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal)
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships

 

Additional Details for This Role:

This role will be a hybrid role. Subject to business needs, employees may work remotely up to two days per week. Assigned office days will be determined by your manager. #LI-Hybrid

 

Base Salary

 

The targeted base salary range for this position is $ 110,000 - $ 130,000 per year.
Base salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the successful candidate, as well as factors such as internal equity, cost of labor in the hiring location, and alignment with market data.
