    Job's mission

As a Senior Field Service Engineer II at ASM, you are the technical authority for a product or module at one of our largest customer sites. You own the problems no one else has solved, lead escalations to closure, and raise the capability of the engineers around you. This is one of the top individual contributor levels in the Field Service Engineer path — the work is technical leadership, not supervision.

What You Will Be Working On

    • Serve as the technical expert for an assigned product, module, or application at a customer site.
    • Lead diagnosis and resolution of the most complex hardware, software, and integration failures.
    • Own tool-down escalations end to end, including documentation and closure.
    • Lead root-cause investigations on quality and repeat events, and drive the corrective actions.
    • Identify failure trends across the fab and act on them before they become downs.
    • Create technical training material and mentor FSEs to increase module proficiency.
    • Drive improvements to ASM procedures and customer specs — redlines, spec edits, drawing corrections.
    • Partner with spares and the customer to convert reactive work into proactive maintenance.
    • Travel domestically and internationally (25–75%).

    What We Are Looking For

    • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent military technical training.
    • 10+ years of field service or semiconductor manufacturing experience on complex capital equipment.
    • Demonstrated ownership of critical escalations in a high-volume production environment.
    • Deep troubleshooting capability on microprocessor-controlled electro-mechanical systems, including issues without a documented path.
    • Fluency reading and redlining electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical schematics.
    • Structured problem solving and root-cause analysis, with documentation others can follow.
    • Proven ability to coach and develop other engineers.
    • Credibility with customer engineering and operations leadership.

    What Sets You Apart

    • Deposition experience — ALD, epitaxy, PECVD, PEALD, or vertical furnace.
    • Prior role as module owner, escalation owner, or site SME.
    • Track record building and delivering technical training.
    • Knowledge of vacuum, closed-loop gas control, and electro-pneumatic systems.
    • Experience working around toxic and flammable gases in a fab environment.
    • History of converting recurring failures into permanent design or procedure changes.
