    Job Responsibilities:

    Magna's New Mobility division is seeking a Senior Engineer with a mechanical and System engineering background to lead the design, deployment, and support of advanced robotic systems. The ideal candidate will combine expertise in mechanical systems, embedded electronics, and system requirements definition to ensure AMR solutions are reliable, secure, and optimized for autonomous mobility.

    What you will be doing in this role:

    • Design & Integrate robotic architectures, including mechanical components, embedded controllers, sensors, and communication networks

    • Optimize system performance, focusing on mechanical design considerations, navigation, and obstacle avoidance

    • Define & Document Requirements: Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to gather, analyze, and formalize system and mechanical requirements

    • Support Deployment & Troubleshooting by working closely with hardware, software, and field teams

    • Lead System Upgrades and integration projects, emphasizing mechanical and electronic system improvements

    • Automate & Script diagnostics, firmware updates, and data collection processes using scripting languages like Python or Bash

    • Conduct Performance & Reliability Analysis to inform design improvements and capacity planning

    • Work Cross-Functionally between Product and Solutions teams to understand customer needs and transpose them into technical engineering requirements.

    What you should bring to this role:

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)

    • 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, robotics, or automation, with a strong mechanical component

    • Expertise in mechanical design, CAD tools, embedded systems, and real-time control systems (ROS/ROS2)

    • Strong knowledge of sensors (LiDAR, cameras, IMUs), perception, and navigation algorithms

    • Experience with requirements management, system validation, and testing

    • Certifications in robotics, mechanical design, or cybersecurity are a plus

    Desired Attributes:

    • Mechanical and systems thinking with a passion for autonomous mobility solutions

    • Excellent communication skills for requirements gathering and cross-team collaboration

    • Ability to lead technical projects and support multidisciplinary teams

    • Detail-oriented with a focus on safety, reliability, and performance

    • Proficient in scripting and programming languages including Python, C++ and Bash

    • Proficiency in solid works (Cad tool) is a plus

    Hiring Base Salary Range: $85,670 - $159,110 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data). In addition to base salary, some positions are eligible for an annual performance based bonus.
