Full-Time Permanent Position with Benefits
The Senior Energy Engineer will direct internal and external project teams to design, develop, and deliver high-impact energy conservation projects. This role requires deep technical expertise in facility solutions including HVAC, central plants, co-generation, building automation, lighting, building envelope, and renewable energy systems specifically for commercial, government, and institutional infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Lead the development of comprehensive energy conservation projects, ensuring strict accuracy, financial feasibility, and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct detailed energy audits, site surveys, and utility data analysis. Develop realistic, defensible energy savings calculations.
- Partner with sales, engineering, estimating, project management, and proposal teams to support robust project design, accurate costing, and client presentations.
- Prepare precise engineering reports, advanced spreadsheets, and project documentation to support proposals and implementation phases.
- Confidently present technical findings, ROI metrics, and project solutions to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Oversee, mentor, and guide junior Energy Engineers, driving excellence in project execution and supporting their professional development.
- Stay current with emerging green technologies, industry best practices, and evolving energy certification requirements.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, technical guidance, and performance evaluations for assigned Energy Engineers.
- Participate in the hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management of team members.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) or a closely related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of dedicated energy engineering experience, including deep expertise in sustainable practices across sectors like healthcare, higher education, government, K-12, and industrial facilities.
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience is highly preferred.
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 30% (including potential multi-night stays); must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.
- Due to federal contracts, U.S. Citizenship and the ability to pass an FBI background check (with no felony convictions) are strictly required. Ability to obtain further security clearances as needed.
- Advanced technical knowledge of commercial energy efficiency practices and utility rebate programs.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel formulas/modeling required) and Adobe PDF.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical data into clear concepts for non-technical clients.
- Strong analytical mindset, mathematical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
