Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorshipOur client is the world's largest manufacturer of commercial laundry equipment, with more than a century of engineering heritage and machines running in over 100 countries. Recently public and growing double digits, the company is investing heavily in connected products that link embedded machines, payment systems, IoT gateways, and cloud platforms. Its headquarters and primary engineering hub sit in east-central Wisconsin, within easy reach of the Fox Valley.
As Senior Embedded Systems Engineer, you'll be the resident expert for wireless connectivity and payment integration across a massive connected fleet, serving as the bridge between the hardware and digital product teams. You'll own the hardest problems in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, kiosk, and edge-to-cloud communications, from in-house project work to occasional customer-site deployments to capture debug data on intermittent field issues. Your findings will directly drive production firmware fixes, and you'll be the go-to mentor as the team grows.
What you'll need:- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 5+ years of embedded firmware development in C on resource-constrained microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M, STM32, PIC, Renesas, or similar)
- Hands-on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth/BLE experience in shipped embedded products: integration, debugging, and resolving connectivity and data-integrity issues
- Expert bench debugging: JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, logic and protocol analyzers, plus comfort reading schematics and troubleshooting at the circuit level
- Strong command of embedded protocols (CAN, Modbus, UART, SPI, I2C) and IoT/network protocols (MQTT, TCP/IP, TLS, cellular)
- Proven root-cause skills on intermittent, hard-to-reproduce issues, with clear written and verbal communication
- Ability to travel up to 25%, including internationally, with a valid passport (or ability to obtain one)
Nice to have:- Integration of third-party peripherals such as payment kiosks, terminals, or vending systems
- RTOS (FreeRTOS or similar) or bare-metal architectures; RF coexistence experience
- Appliance, consumer/commercial product, or manufacturing background
Why this role: own the connectivity domain outright, high visibility, a fast hiring process, and a stable market leader in a low cost-of-living lakes-country town.
