Senior Embedded Software Engineer – C++
Location: 100% Onsite in Sterling Heights, MI

Security Clearance: This position requires eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance. Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The contract staffing company will hold the clearance.

Must have C++ and DOS experience.
About the Role
We are seeking experienced Embedded Software Engineers to support the development and integration of software for a next-generation ground combat vehicle program.

Engineers will work across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, architecture and design, coding, testing, integration, debugging, and software releases.
Responsibilities
  • Develop software requirements, design documentation, and application code.
  • Perform software requirements analysis and preliminary/detail design.
  • Develop embedded software using established engineering standards and procedures.
  • Develop and execute unit and functional test procedures.
  • Perform hardware/software integration and troubleshoot software issues.
  • Support software releases involving multiple developers.
  • Develop software across areas such as board support, cybersecurity, displays, and system downloading.
  • Interface with Systems Engineering, Software Quality, and other technical teams.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies.
  • Provide development status updates to project leadership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of related software engineering experience preferred.
  • Strong C++ experience required.
  • DOS experience required.
  • Experience with C, C#, Java, Python, and/or Qt.
  • Experience with Git, GitLab, and/or Bitbucket.
  • Experience with embedded operating systems such as VxWorks, Linux, RTOS, or similar environments.
  • Experience with board support packages (BSPs) and virtualization.
  • Experience with serial and network protocols such as RS-232/422, CAN, TCP/IP, and UDP/IP.
  • Experience with DDS, Kafka, or other publish/subscribe middleware.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools.
Preferred Experience
  • Defense or military vehicle software development experience.
  • Ground combat vehicle network architecture.
  • GCIA, MOSA, SOSA, FACE, NGVA, or UKGVA architectures/data models.
  • Type 1/Type 2 hypervisors.
  • Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization technologies.
  • IoT concepts and architectures.
  • Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Time Sensitive Networking (TSN).
  • Multicast networking.
  • TCP/UDP networking.
  • Data Distribution Service (DDS).
Additional Requirements
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required.
  • Ability to work on and around military vehicles, including climbing on/off vehicles and working in confined spaces, is preferred.
  • Must be able to pass an ASR (Anthropometric Size Requirement) test for confined spaces.
  • Up to 10% travel may occasionally be required.

Pay Rate: $69 – $82 per hour, depending on experience
