A technician flags a vibration on a drive—within minutes, you’ve isolated the fault, confirmed with your multimeter and megger, and adjusted a VFD parameter to stabilize the line. Later, you shadow an apprentice through a lockout/tagout sequence, debrief a root-cause review on a recurring pneumatic leak, and close your day assisting engineering with an HMI update for a new warehousing conveyor. Every action reduces downtime and raises the bar for safety, quality, and reliability.

What you’ll do
- Keep equipment at peak performance: Maintain and repair heavy industrial assets including extrusion lines, paper machines, pneumatic systems, and warehousing equipment.
- Own control systems uptime: Troubleshoot and support PLCs, HMIs, motor controls, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), safety circuits, and relay logic.
- Execute PM and PdM: Run preventive schedules, analyze failure trends, and recommend changes that boost reliability.
- Lead and elevate others: Mentor apprentices and technicians through hands-on coaching and on-the-job training.
- Dig into root causes: Perform structured RCA to eliminate repeat failures.
- Advance capital work: Support installs, upgrades, and plant-wide continuous improvement projects.
- Champion safety and quality: Practice LOTO, arc flash safety, and OSHA compliance; uphold 6S and GMP standards.
What you bring
- Experience: 7+ years of industrial maintenance in continuous manufacturing (paper, extrusion, or heavy machinery strongly preferred).
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Electrical: Skilled with low-voltage DC through 480V 3‑phase power; fluent with multimeters, ammeters, and megohmmeters.
- Controls: Able to read, interpret, and troubleshoot PLC programs, HMIs, and electrical ladder logic.
- Mechanical & fluid power: Proficient with hydraulics (pumps/valves), pneumatics, power transmission, gearboxes, alignment, and piping.
- Prints & fabrication: Read schematics, electrical diagrams, mechanical blueprints, and P&IDs; experienced with machining, welding, and power/hand tools.
- Professional skills: Systematic problem-solver, calm under pressure, excellent communicator across shifts and departments.
Work environment & physical demands
- Physical: Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted; stand, sit, kneel, squat, and climb ladders/scaffolding throughout the shift.
- Environment: Dynamic industrial setting with varying temperatures, high noise, airborne particles (PPE provided), and elevated work areas.
- Scheduling: Up to 12‑hour shifts with potential nights, weekends, and overtime based on production needs.
Preferred credentials
- Trade school or completed apprenticeship in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics.
- Powered Industrial Truck (Forklift/Aerial Lift) Operator License.
- NFPA 70E Arc Flash Safety training.
