Electrical Engineer - Substations

Minimum 5 Years experience as an Electrical Engineer

Venteon is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer - Substation to fill an opening with a construction company for a remote position. The ideal candidates should have a strong understanding high and medium voltage electrical. A background with power and lighting distribution and a knowledge of substation electrical is desired. 

Requirements of the Electrical Engineer 

• Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (required).

• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or willingness to obtain.

• 3 7 years of experience in electrical engineering in substation, power delivery, utility or renewable energy projects

• Hands-on experience supporting physical design, protection and controls, or both in substation projects

• Strong understanding of high voltage systems 

• Experience working with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar tools for electrical design.

• Knowledge of energy management systems and sustainability best practices is a plus.

• Strong understanding of electrical codes and safety practices.

• Familiarity with standards such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI and NFPA

Responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer 

• Support the design and engineering of high-voltage substations for utility, renewable, and power delivery projects

• Contribute to both physical substation design and Protection & Controls (P&C) engineering packages

• Lead or support engineering tasks from project kickoff through IFC/design package completion

• Coordinate closely with civil, structural, SCADA, relay, and project management teams to deliver integrated solutions

• Prepare technical deliverables including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, grounding plans, conduit/raceway layouts, cable schedules, bills of material, specifications, reports, and client-facing documents

• Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup phases

• Occasionally travel for field walkdowns, client meetings, factory acceptance testing, or construction support
