Senior Electrical Engineer

Mount Indie is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to provide professional electrical engineering services in support of the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and other supported commands under NAVFAC Southeast in Jacksonville, Florida. This role supports military construction (MILCON), facilities sustainment, renovation, and infrastructure improvement projects, and requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, code-compliant designs that meet NAVFAC and DoD standards. Work will be performed on-site utilizing Government-furnished equipment. This position is contingent upon contract award.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Conduct field evaluation and generate review comments for electrical design proficiency in accordance with code standards for in-house and A&E design submittals; ensure comments are resolved and incorporated into the design, and that A&E contract work has been satisfactorily completed.
• Conduct site visits before design to perform assessments to generate electrical systems design requirements; assist with construction quality assurance (QA) by performing code-required special inspections or required electrical observations.
• Witness acceptance testing and provide troubleshooting recommendations for electrical equipment and systems as part of the facility commissioning process.
• Produce written results of analysis, consolidate findings of others, evaluate recommendations and facts, and make oral presentations of proposed designs and study results.
• Support new-build and renovation projects for administration, industrial, research, recreational, medical, security, waterfront, airfield, and living facilities.
• Comply with Safety Policy and Guidance and use personal protective equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

• U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain NACI/CAC eligibility required.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Electrical Engineering required.
• Knowledge of DoD and Navy guide specifications, criteria and policy, industry codes and standards, and standard practices related to electrical engineering design, including NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), IEEE C2 (National Electrical Safety Code), and the International Building Code.
• Knowledge of local, state, federal, and foreign country laws, codes, and other statutory requirements affecting electrical engineering design throughout the NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic AOR.
• Knowledge of budgeting, planning, and project management techniques, including the ability to coordinate the work of others and lead teams.
• Specific design experience in interior and exterior lighting; facility power distribution systems, including standby power generation; telecommunication systems (voice, data, cable TV, Wi-Fi); security systems including closed-circuit TV; grounding systems; instrumentation/controls related to industrial processes; lightning protection systems; medical facility systems; audio-visual systems; and site electrical distribution, including medium-voltage switchgear, substations, transformers, and overhead/underground distribution.
• Proficiency with Autodesk and/or REVIT, MS Office products, electrical engineering design and analysis software, and other applicable DoD systems and software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Highly motivated self-starter, able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines autonomously.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university required.
• Minimum of 10 years of professional electrical engineering code-compliant facilities design experience for new construction, including renovation design experience.

• Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and crouch, and remain in a stationary position/sit at least 60% of the time.
• Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, and phone.
• Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
• Capable of lifting up to 10 lbs.
• Ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
• Ability to understand the speech of another person, speak clearly so listeners can understand, and talk or hear both in person and by telephone.

• $67.00 - 85.00 / Hour
