Description
Job Summary: As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will design, develop, document, and test factory automation systems, integrating various and disparate industrial components and machinery. The role involves working on a wide range of design projects that involve the creation of electrical circuits, panels, enclosures and cables. These projects range from PLC-based control systems to Ethernet communications, robotics, and power distribution. You may also advise on the assembly of newly designed systems. Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Management and Engineering teams to create requirements for any new factory automation system or modifications to an existing one.
Design and schematically capture all electrical circuits for a new or modified factory automation system.
Use approved CAD tools to design all electrical subsystems including panels, enclosures and cabling. Use those CAD tools to produce complete assembly documentation for the new subsystems.
Where necessary, select PLC components per standards and integrate these components into new electrical subsystems.
In cooperation with the software development team, participate in programming PLC components. This programming may include foundational PLC system functions as well as diagnostics.
Take all reasonable measures to ensure maximum safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of a new electrical design.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software engineers, project managers, and production staff, to troubleshoot and debug a newly assembled system.
Support and advise the Technician team during assembly of a new system.
Participate in the ongoing improvement of the design environment and processes, including research and evaluation of new CAD tools and hardware diagnostic instruments.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technology advancements, and regulatory requirements.
Offer technical support and training to staff.
Establish and maintain working relationships with all vendors who provide electrical components and technical services.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related electrical degree
Minimum 4 years of experience in electrical engineering related to factory automation and industrial system integration.
Strong experience collaborating with Management and Engineering teams to create requirements and specifications for factory automation systems.
Strong experience electrically integrating disparate industrial components and machinery into factory automation systems, including designing any custom circuitry, panels and cabling required for integration.
Strong experience designing PLC-based factory control systems.
