Senior Embedded Hardware Engineer

Location: Onsite

Salary: $145,000–$160,000

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Embedded Hardware Engineer to lead the design and development of embedded electronic control hardware for HVAC and industrial control products. This individual will own hardware development from concept through production and work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver reliable, high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed electrical schematics for embedded electronic control hardware. This is a core responsibility of the role.
  • Lead the electrical design of embedded hardware from concept through production.
  • Design analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits for microcontroller-based control systems, including power supplies, sensor interfaces, relay/triac drivers, and communication circuits.
  • Select electronic components and define PCB layout requirements.
  • Review PCB layouts to ensure functionality, reliability, thermal performance, manufacturability, and EMC performance.
  • Perform feasibility studies, engineering calculations, cost analyses, and technical risk assessments.
  • Build, test, troubleshoot, and refine prototype hardware.
  • Develop and execute hardware verification and validation testing, including performance, environmental, reliability, and compliance testing.
  • Participate in design reviews, FMEA activities, root cause analysis, and corrective action efforts.
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, test, quality, and operations teams throughout product development, product launch, and sustaining engineering.
  • Support existing products through product improvements, component changes, cost reduction initiatives, and production issue resolution.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentor junior engineers.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have proven experience creating electrical schematics for embedded electronic hardware. Candidates without hands-on schematic design experience will not be considered.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of embedded hardware design experience supporting production products.
  • Strong experience with analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design.
  • Experience with component selection, PCB layout review, hardware validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to support products throughout the full development lifecycle—from concept and prototype through production launch and sustaining engineering.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively on cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing embedded control systems for HVAC, industrial controls, appliances, or similar products.
  • Experience with power supply design, sensor interfaces, relay/triac drivers, communication interfaces, and microcontroller-based control systems.
  • Familiarity with UL, CSA, FCC, or similar regulatory standards.
  • Experience with FMEA, reliability testing, component qualification, and design verification.
  • Background in product improvements, cost reduction initiatives, sustaining engineering, and technical leadership.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $145,000–$160,000
